I too now make reservations without any FF number. Then I phone QF to find out the fare bucket (since it is not always obvious) and ask them to put in my AA (or sometimes even QF) frequent flyer number in the reservation.

The problem I am now having is that my AA FF number after this does not appear in QF’s “my booking” or www.checkmytrip.com. Last trip I phoned QF 3 times. At the start of the conservation the agent said the AA number was not in the reservation but that he/she had now added it (same conversation 3 times). At check in was not there. In Syd a few weeks ago the check-in agent could not add it (did not know how) but had to get some else to do it.

It would be better if the QF on–line booking engine allowed any Oneworld frequent flyer number to added at the time of booking.

Next trip will try the "book with QF FF (for WP seating preference) but accruing to AA by changing in the QC" method
