I posted a seperate thread dealing earlier this week concerning the TSA not letting me use my NEXUS card as primary identification. As a follow up I spoke with a TSA supervisor at LAS yesterday. He informed me that THEY were advised that they will no longer accept Clear, Nexus, FAST or Sentri. When I enquired as to why, the supervisor told me that the Nexus, FAST, Sentri & Global Entry data bases had been compromised!!! He said that the cards were not considered "secure".
Could this possibly be true??? I went to the GOES/DHS web site & there is NOTHING pertaining to this, zero. My sence is that (once again) a TSA supervisor has NO idea what he is talking about & is only 100% misinformed.

I would have taken his name and contacted the newswires, attributing word of the leak to him and asking them to follow-up.
CLEAR, and the other RT variants, are understandable, as:
1. They were not Government-issued ID
2. They have all closed shop

The GAO tests really only mean anything if Congress is really going to hold their feet to the fire and do something about the poor results. Otherwise, we still see the same kabuki as usual.

Nexus cards are still valid ID according to he TSA website, http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtrav...documents.shtm.
Next time print this and bring it with you, if they still reject it make sure to get the last name and badge ID of everyone involved. Then send a letter to the airports FSD and an online complaint at the TSA website.

From personal experience the FSD's are in CYA mode at all times.
I believe that is one of the main reasons that TSA is so poorly received by the knowing public.

same old story
I went through this routine in April in AUS. They refused my NEXUS card, and said at that time that there were reports of counterfeit cards. This was repeated right through the supervisor on duty at the time, with the statement that passport cards were not acceptable either. The following week, just to stir the pot, I went through again with NEXUS, but also carrying the printout from the TSA website. That time there was no problem at all, and that supervisor was pretty outraged that it was not accepted the previous week, and wanted to know the name of the earlier supervisor. Since then it has been like a random number generator - sometimes no problem, sometimes the ID checker says no and I ask for the supervisor, but the sup has always so far just sighed and said of course NEXUS was acceptable ID and mentally slaps the TSO upside the head. There is no consistency in this, there are just minimally trained people making S* up as they go hoping nobody calls them on it. Maybe it is time to tip off the media about this.

Its not just the TSA, I used to work in a pharmaceutical call center. We took orders from sales reps and questions from doctors offices. At one point a drug rep asked me if it is was ok if he gave me more than three orders over the phone. I said yes and asked him why, one of my coworkers had told him there was a new policy limiting orders placed over the phone to three. There was no policy, she was just lazy.

I love the "I'm not a web master" comment. What an idiot.
