You can take it from there.

I hope the nervous Nellie got his/her ... kicked on the plane and after it landed.

"You can't have lipstick!!!"

"Get bent!"

"Surrender it now! Flight Attendant!!!"

AP: Pax had Vaseline, a screwdriver, matches and a note referencing Al Qaeda.

Sounds like a party.

:D

I'm confident that the news report saying she had the first three items is fabricated (not by you - by the so-called "Journalists"), since none of those items is permitted from Heathrow today.

Or was this an FA confrontation with a passenger escalated beyond the scope of reason? Seems to be conflicting reports on this matter.

There was a supposed confrontation on board. There may have been a banned item on board and they are now searching the luggage," said Phil Orlandella, spokesman at Boston's Logan International Airport.

Officials say it started with a woman who became distraught. She was carrying vaseline, a screwdriver, matches and a note referencing al-Qaeda. It escalated when she and two other passengers had a confrontation with the flight crew, according to an airport spokesman.

Sensationalist media is going to love this. :D

A female passenger aboard United Flight 923 had Vaseline, a screw driver, matches and a note referencing al-Qaida, according to Phil Orlandella, spokesman for Boston's Logan International Airport.

He said the flight was escorted to Boston by two fighter jets.

The flight, with 182 passengers and 12 crew members landed safely, United spokesman Brandon Borrman said. Borrman said a female passenger was spotted engaging in some "suspicious" activity, but he could not immediately say what the activity was.

^ Sounds like an excellent plan; or at the least it would keep this board busy :D

I'm less worried about the media, as I am about the reaction 'our fellow citizens' will have to this obviously dangerous and threatening event

Apparently they're all being detained/held/etc. Since they're not going to be charged with anything, is there any reason that one of them can't claim false imprisonment and leave?

As moronic as the Department of Fatherland Security is, I gotta say, the chick had a screwdriver (which I think is prohibited), Vasaline (which is prohibited) and a note about al-Qaida. The story here isn't overreaction it's how all these prohibitions only inconvience law-abiding pax. She got all this crap on board how?

Because we all know that a pax with a tube of lipstick can breach the cockpit and hijack the plane, of course.

FWAAA Aug 16, 2006 9:19 am

Now the obligatory live TV coverage of a runway search of all luggage from the plane by bomb-sniffing dogs.

After the story about the plane being taken back to the gate in BDL because of a liquid on board and now this.... We need to follow the regs if we like them or not or its going to be even a bigger inconvienence with your plane is late b/c some idiot decided to smuggle his bottle of water on.

Depending on the volume/size, getting that stuff on board is trivial for a woman. If she had a tub of Vaseline and a big screwdriver, that's one thing. If she had a .25 oz lip tube of the stuff and an eyeglass screwdriver, that's another.

It can be got on board because the security screening is ineffective in meeting its own stated objectives. If this report is true, she cleared security at least twice.
