Stunned TSO

(No I didn't knock them out)

Six flights last week and three of them brought me to a scanner. IAH and DEN were stroppy about my calm nonconfrontational refusal-and told me it wasn't dangerous or an X-ray-and took their time finding a groper to deal with me-however all three were appropriate and professional and did'nt cross boundrys (I've experienced otherwise-in the past elsewhere).

LAS was noteworthy (D gate) as complletely no drama or "advice"-and a through but appropriate pat down. Her jaw dropped though when I commeted "Very professionally done-Thank you"-she recovered-and thanked me-but looked stunned.

people here will focus on the word "appropriate", but given what the TSO's are directed to do, i will also comment when they do it calmly and professionally. the three-striper who worked with me at FAT a couple of weeks ago was very friendly and professional. it felt like a switch was flipped a month or two -- in my experience, the TSA now seems to be working to treat opt-outs professionally and get them out of public view as quickly as possible.

There is a name for people who touch your genitals in a friendly and professional manner. Well at least you didn't have to pay these particular sex workers.

They are being friendly to disarm you and make you make the mistake it takes for them to catch something. Like seeing an OBVIOUS B for the Boston Red Sox on my shirt in Ohio and asking me what it stands for. Or seeing a paw print for my alma mater on my bag (with the school name clearly next to it. They asked if I was a vet since there was a paw print.

My "bits" were hovered over but remained unsulied

Good thing they didn't ask me about the RedSox's-as I'm one of those "dangerous" foreigners

It's great that you were not abused, but that's just what should be happening in every case.

When I go to the store and pay for a $10 purchase with a $20 bill, I am not grateful that they give me the proper amount of change. I may thank them for their overall service, but getting the proper change is both required and expected.

The TSA needs to return to the old frisk. Just pat, stay away from the groin and breasts. That is sufficiently effective.

Now that's just not true unless you're foolish enough to wear a Redskins jersey here in Texas.

Or a Tony Romo jersey, for that matter, since we all know that he is the AntiChrist sent here by Lucifer himself to ruin the Cowboys' legacy of Super Bowl championships with his mediocre playing and off field antics....but I digress.

Folks, make sure you read the new posting rules at the top of the forum. Use of the words "smurfs", "Gestapo" and the like are no longer allowed around the forum. Violators after June 1st will have their posting privileges suspended without any further warning.

Is the word clerk allowed or is that considered inflammatory as well?

As long as our government will issue a visa to a guy AFTER his father says he is dangerous shouldn't even be frisking. Because it is obvious the government doesn't really give a bleep about security. It merely wants to insult people, especially those who provide the money it spends.

Thank you for commenting politely to the TSO that performed the patdown, it is nice to hear positive things being said to our workforce.

Others have commented that this should be your experience everytime you are selected for a patdown, I agree. Every time you enter a checkpoint, you should recieve professional service.

P.S. this made my day, take care!

From what I understand, as it would be excessive to forbid a plainly descriptive phrase that reasonably refers to a TSO as the phrase stands on its own, that one's kosher if you don't do anything to draw attention to the acronym it forms.

Example:
Saying "Joe was displeased with the airport security screeners at ORD last week" is okay.

Saying "I can't believe what that Airport Security Screener (note caps and bolding versus in-flow formatting of prior example) did to him!" is not.

And obviously, just spelling out the acronym with periods after each letter is not.

Such is my understanding of the rule.
