Just a short note to rave about 94 Stewart. Had dinner there last weekend with some friends and they continue to provide marvelous food and great service. Panko-deep-fried avocado starter. Who knew?

Hey Chex- wanna find out some more about the new Samurai Noodle that is going in on the AVE (like when) and how about a listing of some of the new fro-yo places that have been popping up (new one on the AVE and also I may have seen a new one on Market). Some cheepo places are always fun

Good tip. I've walked by the place, but haven't heard anything from someone who's been there.

I was just in Seattle for a few days and here's my thoughts:
Meal 1, Dinner on 4/20/08:
Angel Hair Pasta Pomodoro at The Daily Grill at the Sheraton.
Good dish. A little spicy, but with this dish, it's good.
Meal 2, Breakfast on 4/21/08:
A raspberry mocha and poppyseed muffin from some coffee shop inside the Trade and Convention Center (first floor, Pike Street Entrance).
Eh. Raspberry mocha was VERY sweet. I'm thinking they gave me 3 shots of raspberry syrup and not 3 shots of coffee. Muffin wasn't nothing to rave about.
Meal 3, Dinner on 4/21/08 (lunch was part of my conference):
Halibut Fish and Chips at The Fisherman's on the Waterfront.
HUGE portions for a 3 pc. Fish and Chips. I could only eat 1 and a half of them. But they were very good. Had a Raspberry Jubilee with it, which was also good.
Meal 4, Breakfast on 4/22/08:
Belgian Waffle with Strawberries and Cream at The Daily Grill at the Sheraton.
That was the best Belgian Waffle I've ever had!
Meal 5, Lunch on 4/22/08:
Tuna on Italian bread from Subway, outside the Trade and Convention Center
Once you've eaten at one Subway, haven't you eaten at them all?
Meal 6, Dinner on 4/22/08
Mixed Green Salad and a Curveball Ale at the Pyramid Alehouse by Safeco
Excellent, considering I wasn't feeling well due to dehydration (which was quickly fixed with a nice cold glass of water). Curveball Ale very good, also. Combined with the M's win, this was the perfect end to my trip.
Had the garlic fries at Safeco Field...YUMMY!
Also had chocolate covered strawberries there. Those were good.

Mooberry just opened up in Ballard on Market. The reviews on Yelp say it's good...haven't had time to go myself...must do that.
There is also one opening on the Ave at 47th. When it's opened I'll stop on in...

Cascadia is for sale because the chef and owner is going back to work for the new Four Seasons Seattle which should be opening in a few months. Article
94 Stewart is a favorite of mine too. If the counter isn't too busy it's a comfortable place for single diners to watch the cooking and ask a few questions of the chef.

Saturday we headed up to 10th and E Pike to Quinn's Pub- a gastropub owned and operated by the same couple who owns Restaurant Zoe (which we know is my favorite).
They have a very decent selection of beers and the gastro-pub fare was quite excellent. We shared a wagyu burger, the curried-couliflower lentils and the wild boar sloppy-joe. All were very excellent. The surprise was the couliflower/lentil dish.

OK, OK very touristy but...
We ate at Ivar's on the waterfront for brunch Sunday afternoon and enjoyed it very much- actually pleasantly surprised at the price for such a complete selection- oysters on the half-shell, crab legs, peel 'n eat shrimp, prime rib, roast pork, waffles and omelets, etc. And for just $21.99 per person, we thought it was a very good deal.
Ate at the Space Needle on Tuesday evening- I was a little shocked at the $35 per adult minimum food purchase but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food (chicken stuffed with portabella mushrooms)- Very good with excellent service- Since it included a ticket to the observation deck, we thought it ended up being good deal- Just wish I'd know they validated valet parking-

Advice Needed pleease...
First time in Seattle from Europe and we only have one night so we want to make the most of it.
Living in France (but not French, fwiw) food, wine and fine dining has become an important priority in my life! However, in Seattle for one night the scenery comes first...
I've had two recommendations: Ray's Boathouse and the Space Needle, both for the view - which one would be the better choice?
Also, if the Boathouse, does anybody how much is a taxi from downtown in case we want to try some Chardonnay....

If you're willing to drop some cash, Canlis is a great option for both food and view.
Salty's on Alki (in West Seattle) also has great views.
of your two choices, I'd go with Roy's, but I don't know how much a taxi would be from downtown.
