For the visitor to Seattle IŽd also highly recommend a visit to the Smith Towers near Pioneer Sqaure . Its a 35 story high office building constructed in 1914 and at the time the fourth tallest "skyscraper" in the world.
From the observation deck on top you have a great view of the downtown area as well as over the Puget Sound. And I personally think the views from here are more interesting than from the Needle. At the observation deck there are also very knowledgeable guides who are more than happy to tell you about SeattleŽs "frontier" history. http://www.smithtower.com/index.html |
SEA to downtown shuttles/shared ride vans?
Hi all,
I am going to spend about 10 days in May exploring Seattle and the Pacific NW. I'm arriving at SEA, staying a few nights downtown, and then renting a car downtown to drive around (it was about $250 cheaper for a weekly rental from downtown then from the airport). I am looking for a good shared ride/shuttle service to get me from the airport to downtown (and then back at the end of my trip). Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! -Mike |
The 194 bus. Takes you right downtown.

Seattle Marriott Airport - Group Rate Available
I have some rooms under an existing block that hasn't sold out. The rate is $149 vs. the $179 that is quoted on Marriott's website. If you are interested, please PM me or call the hotel and ask for the LEI rate.

Bainbridge Island - Suquamish Clearwater Resort
Surprising find...not at all what I expected from a casino-based property. Check out my write-up with lots of photos...this was a hidden gem that satisfied my need for peace and DogDad's itch for poker. ;)

SEA light rail line experiences?
Anyone here used the new light rail line to go between the airport @ SEA and downtown?
a friend tried it early last month and said the price is right but you need plenty of time and it was helpful to only have a single bag to pull. He was especially put off by the distance between the bus stop @SEA being so far away from the AS counters... |
Museum of Flight coat / bag check?
Have a few hours to kill before I need to head to Seatac tomorrow, planning to visit the Museum of Flight before I go.
Does the museum have a coat and/or bag check area where I can leave a small rollaboard or have security concerns of the last few years done away with such conveniences? Can't seem to find any info on the museums website. Any help is much appreciated. |

The light rail is now up and running all the way to the airport station, which is about 1/4 mile to the inside of the airport. All of the papers up here keep complaining how far that is, but seriously. It's not. I plan on trying it out for the first time on Tuesday of next week. |
Qwest Field
Going to see U2 at Qwest Field with the girlfriend and her sister/brother in law in June. Couple of questions:
1. How's the parking situation at Qwest Field? Is it manageable, or just forget about it? 2. I was looking at maybe staying over on Bainbridge Island; if we did that, how is the walk between the ferry terminal and the stadium? It looks short but mostly wondering about safety in that area of town. Thanks for any advice! :) |

It's kinda a pain down there. The walk from the ferry would take you 10-15 minutes. All pretty flat. |
