What type of salmon? How do you want to try it? There are some great sushi places around that area.
|
Wild salmon - Copper River if possible. I am not a big sushi fan (I know, I know everyone tells me I am missing out). Does this help? Thanks for all the advice!

Copper River season has passed. It's usually late May - mid June (I think)
Etta's is fine... Personally, I'd rather go to Flying Fish (which would be walking distance for you in Belltown) or Ray's (which would require a cab). |

Anyhooo... If you want god fish DO NOT go to the touristy sports like Elliots or Cutters (don't get me started about Cutters) or Anthonys. I've heard good things about Waterfront. http://www.waterfrontpier70.com/waterfrontpier70/ I know that Chex has a sweet spot for Restaurant Zoe, and they do have some seafood options. |
I love Flying Fish but if she's looking for a hunk-o-fish it's not the first place I would think of.
Rays is lovely. |
Does anyone know if you can xfer from a DL flight to a CO flight without leaving security?

The Garage just got a big addition added on to it.
Something like an extra 20,000 sq/ft of space and 6 more lanes. http://www.garagebilliards.com/ From the Seattle Times, today 10/22 Bowling bonanza: Seattle's Garage bowling alley will double in size with the opening of a new pair of lounges Saturday, complete with six bowling lanes, two pool tables and two bars totaling 20,000 additional square feet. |
Mrs. ADLFO and another couple with us want to see Seattle from the water, so is one of the ferrys a good way to do this. If so, which one - I think they are all Grey's Anatomy fans. :D Also, looking at Alexis, Monaco or Edgewater for our stay, any recommendations? One last thing, looking for decent Mexican with frozen margs - our age ranges are mid to late 30's ish.

Thanks chexfan and rest of the contributors to this thread. I just returned from wonderful 3 days in Seattle. This thread has been invaluable during my trip. Thanks FT!
This is what I did: I had 2 sunny and 1 sunny-cloudy-drizzle mixed day. I am from DC and spoilt by the smithsonian institute: hence I usually don't go to the other US museums unless they have something of interest for me. Day 1 after checking-in to the hotel, I went to the Elliott bay bookstore and Bainbridge Island w/ a friend and explored the downtown, the casino, grabbed dinner at the Streamliner diner on my way back to the Ferry ride to Seattle. Day 2 was when I experienced the real Seattle rain. The pike place market doesn't really open before 9pm but if you get there around 8:30/8:45 am you'll find the vendors setting up. The market is a very interesting place but it gets really crowded in weekends by 11:00 am. I checked out the public library, the REI flagship store in downtown, the first Nordstorm Store, went to the space needle. If you want to do the Sunday brunch, the view is wonderful for 45$ per person and you can also go to the top. We went back to the market for lunch and then headed to the underground tour. The tour is very interesting and "Kim" the tour-guide was very funny. We ended up catching dinner at "the pink door", they have live entertainment (burlesque on Friday/Sat and trapeze on Sun). The service was excellent. Sunday night Tula's jazz lounge has "Jim Cutler Orchestra" playing from 8pm-11:30pm and we found it as good. Day 3: I explored the sculpture museum and experience music project. Then I went on a drive out to the snoqualmie falls and casino. After spending the afternoon there, caught my flight back. Hope this helps for anyone spending quick 3 days out in Sea. |
This is an excellent post. Thanks to all the contributors. I find the tip regarding the 194 bus is really good considering how cheap it is!
I have a quick question, I will be staying in a hotel called Edgewater (near the waterfront/pier67. Will the bus take me somewhere close? Or is better to take the bus to downtown and then change for a cab? |

For the visitor to Seattle IŽd also highly recommend a visit to the Smith Towers near Pioneer Sqaure . Its a 35 story high office building constructed in 1914 and at the time the fourth tallest "skyscraper" in the world.
From the observation deck on top you have a great view of the downtown area as well as over the Puget Sound. And I personally think the views from here are more interesting than from the Needle. At the observation deck there are also very knowledgeable guides who are more than happy to tell you about SeattleŽs "frontier" history. http://www.smithtower.com/index.html |
