I actually laughed out loud at this.

You've got some surprisingly good options on the Eastside-- Facing East is also pretty good for Taiwanese food.
I can second this. Facing East is pretty good. There's some conservative options on the menu, but some interesting stuff too. The menu can be found here. http://www.urbanspoon.com/u/menu/55084?p=0

Honey Court in the ID is excellent for unpretentious dim sum. Frequently we are the only Caucasians in there.

I recently came across Moon Temple (http://www.yelp.com/biz/moon-temple-restaurant-seattle) in Wallingford.

I'm actually surprised at the lack of good NYC style, greasy, Americanized, Chinese take out-type chinese restaurants in Seattle. But Moon Temple definitely satisfies my craving for Egg Foo Young. Esp at Midnight.

Wow, that totally made me hungry for Egg Foo Young ... and Almond Chicken (the battered and deep fried kind with beige-ish gravy goodness)

It's one of those places that's been there so long (maybe 40 years? I'm guessing) that one wonders how it keeps going. I think you've stumbled on the secret - post-midnight crowd.

Toy's Cafe. They make an excellent chajang mein, or at least they used to. I've been gone for a couple of years now, but plan to stop by there and grab supper when I'm in Seattle next week.

Holy Moly!!! The Moon Temple survives because it poured a pretty mean drink back in it's day. In the mid-70's I worked across the street at the foosball crazy Goldies's. We used to take our break outside by the dumpster and than hop across the street for a couple of pops to wash the smoke out of our mouths....

A Chinese dim sum experience noted here:

Suggestions please: Seattle restaurant for small party

Hi Everyone,
Suggestions please!
I need to find a festive restaurant with awesome food that will allow me to host a dinner for 15-20 people. It would be great for the place to have some buzz (because it will be a bunch of folks in their 20's) but not so loud that my 50 year old self won't be able to hear them.
Thanks very much!

You might check out Ray's Boathouse. It's on Puget Sound and the food is pretty good.

I still like Dahlia Lounge if it is within your price range.

It would help if we knew budget, and geographic restricitions..(i.e. downtown only, or is there a certain mile radius that is an option:

Looking at the downtown corridor only:

Urbane
Matt's in the Market
Blueacre Seafood
Long Provincial

Do you want a place geared toward an ethnicity type or a place that has a variety of options.

Do you want a place that has its own microbrewery?

Yes, price restrictions? What area?

There is Elliott's on the waterfront. Great seafood and other dishes.

Or there is a great Italian called il Terrazzo Carmine in Pioneer Square. We have had several gatherings at that restaurant. Good food, great atmosphere.

El Gaucho for old school steakhouse experience. Been very lively the two times I have eaten there.

Not for the cheap minded though.

SEA - Best Restaurant?

I'd prefer a steak place, but I'll listen to the wisdom of my fellow Flyertalkers.
