Yes, it appears they've cranked up some of the extra seat fees once again, too. It's now $699 each way for the King Air from LA to Oakland, which is an absolutely miserable experience when full.

As a side note: The Founderscard application/membership process took a couple of days, but they were really pleasant to work with. Having spoken with the JS member acquisition team several times before, the contrast couldn't have been more apparent. FC staff were very polished.
Thanks for the report!

Received this email with announcing yet another membership tier, a la carte membership for $495 a year... which they will apparently waive.
Looks like you can pay the extra seat price??

Hi JetSmarter!

Say it isn’t so! We would hate to see you leave the JetSmarter community, so we’ve decided to give you our new “Pay As You Go” membership for a full 12 months, free of charge.

Here’s how it works: We’ll cover your annual fee, and you’ll get to keep JetSmarter’s signature perks, but this time, on your terms, through our new “Pay As You Go” membership tier. Think of it as an a la carte menu that you can purchase from any time you like:

· Scheduled JetShuttle Flights
· Spur-of-the-Moment JetDeals
· Whole Charter Flights
· Shared Charter Flights
· Helicopter Transfers
· On-Demand Concierge
· 24/7 Aviation Specialist Support
· JetSmarter Events & Dinners, and much more

We have included more information for you to take a look at below! And remember: The annual fee is on the house as our treat. I look forward to hearing from you!

Wow. My guess is they're trying to boost their retention numbers, which have to be in the toilet. This way you haven't really left; just 'changed plans'.

I'd do it SFO777... Nothing to lose if it's free. Some of the jetdeal prices aren't unreasonable on a per-seat basis.

Agree. Can't see much downside.
Although they would have my credit card info.

London - Dubai just launched.
$3990 for members
$7990 for an extra seat

Looks like 12 seats on a Legacy 650. That can't be too comfortable for a 7-hr flight.

A couple of "coming soon" things I noticed from the PDF document:
  • Selling unused seats on wholecharter flights
  • "Standard Pricing" for non-smart members on Helicopters, which suggests that the current pricing for the helicopters is discounted ($150 for TEB / $250 for HPN)
  • A "JetStore" of some sort (I wonder what they will be selling?)
  • A social networking component to the app
  • Partner benefits, perks and promotions

Also, there was some interesting fine print at the end, which states, "On JetDeal flights created by other members, Smart Flyers will be able to purchase seats at discounted rates." This suggests that the free JetDeals for members won't be 100% free anymore. The empty legs from operators will be free (at the moment) and the flights created by other members will include a cost. At this rate, almost nothing will be free in a year or two.

It's interesting to see my membership diminish in value everyday.

Yeah I see that too. What's odd is that a JetDeal is an empty leg flight... How will other members create those? They have their own private jet and want to share?

Maybe it has something to do with sharing whole charter aircraft to non-shuttle cities. They'll put them on the app in advance and you can book like a shuttle?

Sounds like they're planning on adding a Blade-like component, which makes a lot of sense. When you book a charter for yourself, you'll have the option to sell any extra seats, which will likely go back to you in flight credits, minus a percentage for JetSmarter.

Does anyone happen to have a TOS or Membership agreement from prior to June 1st 2016 (when the first of price hikes started happening).

Would love to have that re-reviewed right around now.

You can use the Internet archive to look at old versions: https://web.archive.org/web/20150920...ter.com/legal/

Bottom line ...

Is that their current model isn't sustainable and they're losing money. If we want to get any of the current benefits we'll certainly be losing value compared to current membership. That said it may still have value.

If they added a component similar to 8760 with the free tickets to games and events it would sweeten the deal.

The other major issue with jetsmarter compared to wheels up/8760 is the ARGUS rating. None of (it's not required) jetsmarter choppers or other strikers are ARGUS certified.

On wheels up all choppers are dual engine and double piloted.
