Now having started with one or two associates in launching personal attacks against me, you demand that I be banned because you actually disagree with my posts - not that I ever posted anything about you, ever.

I have made no comment on your content, ie "sleeper" in that thread.

I merely noted that you do nothing but copy and paste links from very flamatory websites in the hopes of generating disruption in Omni.

In fact, I actually agree some of the content from the website you have posted, but the way you have just gone about and copied and pasted BS in Omni is excessive and must stop.

Omni is not your playground to post willy nilly. I hope you learn this lesson.

PS - I have no "associates" in Omni. I am my own person and I do not need associates.

Please read the OP's threads. He does nothing except copy links from external websites (especially flammatory ones) and post them as threads, adding zero value whatsoever.

You've never seen me complain about another poster's viewpoints here in ORP. I am complaining about how this poster is attempting to disrupt Omni by posting junk/links willy nilly.

Let's get the facts straight, ok, Glen?

PS Glen - in Omni or wherever else, posting one or two links, fine, I don't care. This person posted 4 - 6 threads in the space of ONE hour, that is generally related, the same useless junk. I call that trolling, and adding to the noise ratio.

I can post links all day long until I'm blue in the face, but I will expect to be canned from Omni.

This is not appropriate for Omni.

EDIT: Sean just locked 10 threads from the poster, all basically the same junk in different iterations. If that's not disruption, I'm not sure what is!

I care, so I stepped to the plate to stop this BS before it got too far. If many people care (and I suspect a great majority of Omni posters and Flyertalkers do care), Omni will be just fine for a long time.

Yes, of those 10 now-closed threads (no two of which were on the same topic), there were no less than 99 replies beyond the original posts. Most of them managed to avoid personal attacks against other posters.

Of course, there are always a few exceptions - there are some who would prefer name-calling to debate, and others who prefer no debate at all. This latter group seems to be in the ascendency today.

Is it better to cut off debate and attack other posters?

Or do we prefer to foster free speech and discussion?

There were 99 replies because you were new, and did not prove yourself to be a pest. Like I said - one or two links, fine. But you clearly crossed the boundary.

Now you've made your reputation in Omni and FlyerTalk, and you are going to have to live with that.

Of course it's obvious you care about OMNI. Next to miles and points, I think MOST FTer's care about OMNI. It's mostly fun. And an e-place to shoot the crap with each other.

I do also hope OMNI stays open after the transition to vBulletin, but I have no crystal ball, and Randy has hinted that there has been limited discussion about closing OMNI, so who knows?

I just feel that there simply has to be some viable solution to whatever problems/concerns have given rise to the notion of closing OMNI - aside from closing OMNI. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

UALOneKPlus - point taken - I was responding purely to the link above on the thread started by Feld Spar. It was higlighting the atrocious and arguably illegal behaviour of the USA in interning without charge for seemingly an eternity a bevy of totally innocent people (many of whom the USA has admitted thus by releasing them) at Gitmo Bay in Cuba.

On that score I agree he or she has the 100% right to post the link, and I personally side entirely with that viewpoint, as IMHO innocent Australians are also interned there.

As for the other threads - you did not reference them, but if they were out of line and got locked, I feel sure there may well be more to this story - I have no idea.

I understand from an email this poster just sent me presumably due to my post above,(not guaranteeing this text is kosher, but it appears to be, based on other banning emails I have been shown from them) that the OMNI mods have now banned this poster on this basis:
