FAQ

When is [insert airline here] joining oneworld???
Which airlines are lined up to join?
See list below and
https://www.oneworld.com/member-airlines/overview
Another useful page for official announcements is: https://www.oneworld.com/news-information/oneworldnews

Current members elect (officially announced and currently aligning processes):

WY - Oman Air
Announced 20JUN22, with a target of '2024' - no indication yet when in 2024 this may be. https://www.oneworld.com/news/2022-0...-join-oneworld

Expected members:

FJ - Fiji Airways
Currently the only oneworld Connect member, FJ stated 28FEB24 that they would like to seek full membership and would apply in Q3 2024.Full membership may still take until 2025/2026. #1489 and https://onemileatatime.com/news/fiji-airways-oneworld/

EI - Aer Lingus
EI's new owners, IAG (owners of existing members BA+IB), stated before acquisition that they fully intended EI to rejoin, and have restated the intention since completing the purchase. EI has not yet been publically 'invited' by oneworld but should join eventually. When? When it's announced... When will EI become a full member of Oneworld?

Air Lingus did not express any desire to join, once the acquisition by IAG is completed they will return back to OW.

Aer Lingus was a member of oneworld, it left when it went downmarket to compete with Ryan Air..

Will mean IAG now has 2 budget airlines in its group - Lingus and Vueling.

I suspect with hindsight they regret selling Go Fly to 3i, who onsold it to Easyjet at a motza profit

I hope IAG will drag them back up a bit. I flew them last week and they really were poor, although maybe Willie Walsh will just drag BA down too to meet them in the middle.

If Royal Air Maroc were to join oneworld, it would be a great coup, as it would open up service to many African destinations that are otherwise very difficult to reach on points. Though I recall reading something a while back that they were in serious discussions to join *A.

In November 2014, Senior Vice President of Royal Air Maroc Habiba Laklalech told media she "believes Oneworld is the alliance which appears most compatible with Royal Air Maroc's developments" and the airline is exploring alliance options

Almost a year ago - they're sure taking their time.

Also, I wonder how award availability would be. I've long had a hankering to visit Central Africa.

Yes, that'll will work. What about Indian Airlines? Why they haven't joined the alliance yet?

Say one more thing? What about El Al?

"Indian Airlines" became part of Air India, which is in Star Alliance now.

El Al is already a member of OW alliance.

Has probably been mentioned countless times, but I'm still hoping for Westjet. They already give AA RDM... And Canada would finally be covered fully by more than just *A....

El Al is not a member of any alliance, and is unlikely to become one. El Al has partnership deals with a number of oneworld members, but it is as much a part of an alliance as EK is.
