Noting for the Aussies that Pakistation has moved up with Sri Lanka at the cheaper end of the DONE fares A$6800 DONE4 and A$7800 DONE5

Cathay flies into Karachi from Bangkok.
Appears that Malaysian airlines has some pretty cheap deals ex-Syd through KL to Karachi.

Anyone thought of this as a different option to Colombo ticketing??

Oh, and my thanks to WBT also.
I do not need to believe. I can see it on AA's CRS system. AA's Oneworld fare lists are the most up to date amongst all Oneworld carriers. There is definitely no fare for the 2 places mentioned above.

BA also flies to TIP. And it doesn't mean that once BA flies from TIP that a Oneworld fare has to exist from Libya either.

Well if you intend to visit the US on that xONEx ex-Karachi, expect more than the usual harassment from US customs/immigration. I'll stick with Colombo, thanks...

Er, I have never been asked by US Immigration where I bought the ticket that I used to enter the country. What makes you think that they would know?

It's not where you bought the ticket, it's the fact that you went to Karachi at all. There will be a passport/visa stamp.

Not to be paranoid, but the U.S. intelligence people, under pressure for their past inattention, have certainly put in place a significant data-mining process that - guessing - requires airlines to bring certain kinds of ticket purchases to their attention. From comments in the media, this is likely to include case purchases of one-way tickets, and in some view or another, an RTW might seem like a one-way ticket. For whatever reason, our very middle-of-the-road caucasian family was SSSS'ed regularly for a while after originating an OWE ex-CAI. Maybe no connection.

I was SSSS'd quite a few times both on ex-CAI tickets and on ex-TPE. I don't think it's where it was bought that matters but that it is seen essentially as a one way ticket.

Of course what I realised after a while was that if I had my AA Plat number in at the time of check-in then I never ever got SSSS'd. All I had to remember was to change back to my CX number (if that was what I actually wanted) while in the lounge.

Nonsense, had Pakistan stamps in my passport last time I went back to the US and had no major issues with immigration or TSA. Got SSSS once (out of a half-dozen domestic segments), but that was when I bought a one way at the airport on the same day. I agree that it doesn't seem to matter where you bought the ticket (or where you have been) as much as how you bought the ticket and what kind of ticket it is.

Last spring AA rtw desk quoted me a fare from Syria but I decided at the time it wasn't worth the effort (in terms of starting from a new city/country, lack of info, etc) as opposed to CAI. The latest starfiles I've seen still list a fare for origination from Syria. If the fare is no longer being offered I appreciate the information but I believe that your post is the first time that information has been posted on FT. In any event thanks for the information.

In regards to Slovenia, is it because no OW carrier flies to Slovenia? Is that the reason why the fare doesn't really exist?

Likewise - I had no major issues when passing through LAX of all places with two Pakistan visas in my passport. I was asked why I went (wedding) and that was it.

But I wonder what happens if I have many more stamps for Pakistan in the passport. I've been thrice in 12 months now (once was a 1 day transit but that may look worse).

TO everyone here.. my apologies...

I found the fare from Syria. It would have helped if that person who programmed RTW fares into AA's computers would place Syria under alphabetical order! Syria was buried under Middle East... it's as if the person who programmed the fares had no idea where Syria is!

Fares as follows:
AONE3 SYR 293,960...AONE4 SYR 340,160...AONE5 SYR 403,160...AONE6 SYR445,160

DONE3 SYR 209,960...DONE4 SYR 251,960...DONE5 SYR 293,960...DONE6 SYR 335,960

LONE3 SYR 104,960...LONE4 SYR 121,760...LONE5 SYR 142,760...LONE6 SYR 167,960

Prices correct as of 24 JAN 2006. 0900 PST.
