RTW

When booking a RTW ticket on One World, which miles program to sign up for?
The airline you'll have the most flights with?
Any airline part of One World even if it won't participate to the RTW trip?
...
I'm a bit lost there so any help/ suggestion would be appreciated.

To help with this question, it would be good to know a few extra bits of information.

What is your home port? What class is your RTW in? Outside of the RTW, where do you do the bulk of your flying?

Home is BRU. I'll be booking economy on all flights. I usually never fly One World... I have a Finnair membership where I collected no points and there won't be any Finnair flights on the RTW...
So what is it best I sign up with?

And another question... any idea how much money I'd save - if any - by departing from LHR instead of BRU?

You would not save any money by departing from LHR. I fact if you can have your first flight on a carrier other than BA you may save a bit in fees.

Really? I think it will be BA from BRU to LHR though, not sure what other options I have there.

American Airlines to JFK, Iberia to MAD, Finnair to Helsinki, or Royal Jordanian to AMM. If headed east initially breaking up your trip in Amman might be nice both because Jordan is a fascinating country (Petra is a must-see) and it's around a third of the way to SE Asia.

So far it's supposed to be BRU- LHR- SIN...

BRU-HEL-SIN would be your other one stop option. If interested in visiting AMM (which would require two stops) you could connect in CMB, BKK or HKG between AMM and SIN.

Qantas also flies Frankfurt-Singapore.

Any idea where I would pay less airport taxes? LHR/ HEL or FRA?

Hey. I'm a brand newbie here from the AAdvantage forums and i wish to expand my knowledge to other areas :D

For late 2012 and 2013 i have in mind doing several long haul flights. Oceania and Asia. Never been there before, i wonder if a RTW ticket would be a wise choice. I'm based in Caracas,Venezuela and origin would be from this location.

Here's the thing i'm completely clueless about everything. Have just opened this sub-forum for the very first time lurking these spaces and have yet to read this thread or the FAQ.

I want to know if it would be a good idea to buy an Explorer ticket and for how much. I only have the means to fly in Y or maybe J if you can find me a very good deal of some sort.

I want to do a trip in 2012 to Australia and New Zealand. Fly QF A380, and spend sometime in the major cities of those countries.

Then in another occasion lets say in 2013 fly to Asia, meet all the major cities and several countries in Asia. Like a RTW but inside Asia.

Can someone input what's the best product for myself? Of course i have to research but i would like to have first hand info from your experiences. It is very important someone quotes me an approximate of USD, so i can get an idea.

How about a LONE5?

CCS-MIA-SFO-LAX-MEL-AKL-SYD-SIN-BKK-HKG-PEK-HND/NRT-HEL-MAD-CCS

It's about 34.000 miles
4.123 USD + 921USD tax= 5.074,95 USD

Is this good or it's expensive. Cheaper would be even better. I wanted to add Moscow, but couldn't get from Japan to Moscow... without exceeding the allowed segments.

I'm based in Caracas,Venezuela. Just was testing this, first time i use this OW tool.

any thoughts on buying tickets from Japan?

I am looking at leaving Sydney in May and travelling to Tokyo/Kyoto for say 10 days.

Mostly then spending 6-8 months in UK, including some short side trips to Europe (that we could buy there).

Then to New York, San Francisco (possibly San Diego or Portland to visit friends) before returning back to Sydney in December or January, if possible via Honolulu or similar relaxing stopover

2 adults, a 4 year old and an infant who will turn 2 in September while we are travelling.

Fares from Syd are generally so much more expensive than elsewhere that I wouldn't mind getting into a new cycle buying fix from UK as I used to when I first moved out here..

Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply but it can't be done. By government regulations we Venezuelans can't buy any ticket that's not originating in Venezuela. Buying a ticket not originating in Venezuela would mean not to pay them at the 4.3BsF per USD, but to buy at 9BsF per USD as we have a currency exchange control.

Also, getting from Venezuela to Japan or any other remote location would be around $2000. Only Caracas-Miami flights are $1500 for a 3 and a half hour flight.
