I am very impressed with your LHR-HNL flight segment - I searched for it on ExpertFlyer: I had no knowledge of AA109 LHR-HNL (it stops somewhere, probably West Coast where there is a change of plane from a B777 to an A320). Very handy to have that as you can then go from HNL to the mainland.

Maybe worth to mention, AA is not willing to rate xONEx bookings that contain LHR-HNL-NA, they interpret it as I have touched US mainland on AA109 LAX stop and thus hawaian backtracking restriction would apply. In addition, AA RTW desk agent warned that AA doesn't agree to touch any xONEx ticket containing LHR-HNL-NA, even for minor flight changes, without recalculating ticket with different fares. But she said that AA will still honour it as a valid ticket, they just don't make any changes in any case.

Other OW carriers and online tool interpret the hawaiian backtracking rule here differently and allows LHR-HNL-NA routing. Maybe AA just doesn't like to carry pax back and forth to HNL from mainland.

You can use The Matrix to get an understanding of the taxes, fees and charges for your itinerary

Yeah, I tried to do that even before posting here, the QF tax calculation differs from that I would estimate from matrix results. And tried also playing with OWE online tool, again would assume lower taxes.

According to Matrix results, I would estimate lower than 1923 A$ taxes and fees. So the according to the difference, it would make sense, if they had calculated transfers as stopovers.

Any suggestions, if should I try to complain to QF about wrongly calculated taxes now or leave it later, after I have used 1st coupon, so it doesn't trigger fare recalculation for sure?

Any comments for above? Is it safe to ask to recalculate taxes before flying 1st segment as I don't want to loose the cheap fare in recalculation process?

I would guess that I'm safe with the fare even with tax recalculation as I already have the ticket?

They also confirmed, that if one make change that gets the ticket reissued, the counter would start counting again from zero because having different e-ticket number. So, it's at least really possible to dodge the 75K RDM limit by getting ticket re-issued by making changes on the way, before the cap would apply.

While that certainly makes -sense-, and sounds logical logistically, would be nice to have/find some really authoritative guidance beyond a AA res agent-- at least a senior agent, etc. As we all know, there's no AA PLT desk, per se, so no way to determine the experience/knowledge/authoritativeness of that agent's opinion.

Again, sounds very possible, but wouldn't want anyone to make plans based on same.

Forget to comment on this. I certainly agree that there is some uncertainty.
The res agent needed to call some supervisor at AAdvantage to confirm and I was about 20min in hold in the meantime. So would guess it was bit more authoritative agent than just res agent, but I cannot confirm that.

We probably will get confirmation for the issue only after someone have tried crediting miles to AAdvantage over the cap.

i guess you have agree with the fare, that is why you paid. i wouldnt count on getting money back. (they gave u a quote that u accepted.) however, should u make any changes, i would try to use this as credit...

Just to update, QF double checked tax calculation and will refund GB.

Interesting note, initially AA webpage showed the price for the booking correctly, but after ticket reissue with correct taxes, it doesn't show the price at all. Moreover, AY seems to now show incorrect total price of 165720 A$ for the ticket. Before reissue, also AY was showing price correctly. So I would guess, that AA have lost the price information in the reissue process and they would need to fall back to mileage based RDM earning?

I hadn't realized that AA 109 is a through flight LHR-HNL, so you should be able to use it as only one segment. As for the question of if it touches North America or not, I can see AA's case, since at one point the OW rules explicitly called out a through flight as touching the continent of the stop:

Travel between South West Pacific and Europe/Middle East on a single flight number/or by surface is considered travelling SWP-Asia-Europe/Middle East through three continents.

I almost always see RTW trips show as $0 after the ticket is reissued. I'm not sure that means AA "lost the price information" since the e-ticket shows that it was an even exchange for an earlier ticket, which does show the price. It's possible, of course, so please do let us know.

I was little bit late for the party and saw this fare after all major airlines had change their prices but hey you can always try smaller ones:

(sorry my english) I saw that AY, LA, JJ and S7 was still with the old fare and decided to give it a try. I first contacted travel agent here in Finland who have booked many RTW tickets. I told her that there is this good price from MPM under 3k and to be honest she laughed at me after she heard the price.
She told me that she have done these over 20 years and never saw DONE4 under 3k.. I asked to check this from Amadeus (i had flights/dates of course with me written) and after long stare she said ok and i can almost hear her thinking why i came to waste her time.
4-5 mins goes by and i hear "oh, this is strange. It looks that you were right". I had couple different answers in my mind but i kept them with me. :D

She contacted to AY and next morning i got call from TA that all good! She said that guy in the AY was wondering the price but all good. I had really busy day at the work and finally had time to call her 3:30 pm when the office closes at 4 pm. BOOM, they closes earlier today and doors have been closed from 3.

Well theres not much to do than wait for the morning and first thing i saw after wake up from EF is that AY have raised the price. Niiiice! Live and learn.

So i decided to do what every normal people would avoid and contacted to Siberian airlines... I hit them with the Facebook message and they gave me address where to contact. Whit no big hopes i sent them message about Explorer tickets.
But oh boy how good feeling is to be wrong whit your assumptions. I got mail from really good customer service representative Darya. We throw messages back and forth and got really nice itinerary for Done4 at 202,000 Rubles (USD3124).

I dont want to do same mistake what i did with AY so i gave my credit card numbers to Siberia and hoped the best.. Worries went away soon when i got some weird looking mails in russia but with the help of google translate these are confirmations that i got these ticketed:)
I took the booking reference and contacted to AY (i`am from HEL) and made double check that they can see my flights and ticket type is DONE4 and everything was just the way they should be.

At the end all good and got these still today!

You're very welcome Leo123 (and you weren't the only person I got a PM from during the ex-MPM feeding frenzy:)

I left Zanzibar this morning to start my long safari to Maputo - I am now in Mwanza on the southern shore of Lake Victoria:D
