Easiest program to achieve OW Sapphire if based in YVR?

If you're based in YVR, which program would be the easiest and cheapest to attain OW Sapphire with?

Sorry, I was hoping to gather more opinions and comments since there might be people who won't participate in the BA forum.

Hi Flyers,

1st post here and I am turning to you guys for a bit of help. I am OW Sapphire with BA, been that for years and pretty much my flight habits keep me there, always falling a little short from OW Emerald.
My question is simply, is there a massive difference in accumulating equivalent tier with AY. The BA system is quite clear and the tier point accumulation is quite smooth with even getting some nice 80 tierpoint european business class flights to rack up quickly.

Now I travel quite a bit between LHR-HEL but I am based in London and fly often on BA flights to other destinations. Will I earn less tier points if I fly BA - X and put my AY number in vs having my BA number in? Does it make a big difference tier point wise whos actual metal it is that im flying?

All help is much appreciated. Reason Im considering AY is just that ive had some really good experiences with them lately and being a Finn would like to support them with my flights, but im just wondering if there is a difference and will I have a harder time racking tier points for AY flying BA out of LHR to other destinations than HKI.

Best OneWorld program for me - not BA

Hi All,

Looking for advice on which FF program in OneWorld might be best for me. I generally use LH for European travel out of the UK and have a A3 *G account which I intend to maintain. I try to fly *A for long haul travel but recently I've found they're double the cost of QR or CX. I probably won't make high status with whichever airline I choose so I'm looking for benefits of a lower status (e.g. Silver), fast-track/lounge access and ease of spending miles on upgrades when I have enough. For reasons I won't go into I'm not considering a BA account.

I already have a QR return flight for which I haven't claimed the miles, and I'm about to take a CX return flight. I generally fly in economy or premium economy.

Any advice very welcome!

What is your travel pattern? Premium cabins or economy?

Qantas is generally easier to earn status if flying premium cabins, but if you're not flying to Australia, you won't get the required 4 QF sectors.

CX is generally hard to get status regardless of cabin flown.

If you won't fly BA, then likely your remaining option is AA which doesn't require any AA metal flying.

I have heard AY is relatively easy to get status, but I haven't done the maths myself.

I fly PE when its not massively different in price from Y. Its company dollar but I try to be careful with it.

Hi, I need some help regarding choosing a one world frequent flyer membership program.

(1) What is most important to you in a FFP?
Reply: Getting status to access priority check in and security and lounges for long haul flights from the UK. Miles earnings is a close second.
Also, the FFP must not be BA (for reasons I won't go into here).
(2) How many miles do you usually fly each year & in what class? How many flights/sectors?
Reply: 6-10 segments of long haul flying per year, mostly in economy but also in premium economy when it is affordable. No short haul.
(3) What types of fares do you usually buy?
Economy/Premium Economy.
(4) Can you choose your airlines and/or class of service? Do you travel for work and/or pleasure?
Reply: Yes. Work.
(5) Which routes and airlines do you fly most often?
Reply: Never the same route. Usually fly with *A at the moment.
(6) What is your home airport?
Reply: MAN/BHX
(7) Do you have FFP status of any kind in OW or other airline? What is it? Do you have any miles banked in a FFP?
Reply: None in OW. *G in A3. I have 100k Amex points.
8) Preferred Airlines? Most common Airlines flown on?
Reply: Currently all *A, but have recently booked QR and CX. Both seem good options to India and East Asia so would like to use them again.

help!

My mother is about to fly a CIRCLE PACIFIC 29,000mile ticket from ASIA-USA-SOUTH AMERICA-AUSTRALIA-ASIA in Business Class (MY-JL-AA-LA-QF-MY) and I am trying to figure out which is the best airline to credit the trip to.

Current Oneworld status is BA Bronze (from a previous trip round trip on BA Business Class), but have no plans to fly BA this year, so can't renew status...

Important factors are:
Maximizing Mileage Received & Good Award Redemption Rates (BA is pretty good for us for this)
Getting Oneworld Status to be able to enter lounges on economy class travel (BA is not good for this because of minimum sectors)...



Questions
For members asking for information, to help people to assist you, can you please provide:

(AA Executive Platinum, QF Gold, UA 1K, LAN Comodoro, etc)
Reply: BA Bronze

Reply: JL, CX (but don't fly on them enough to keep status)

Ill be flying regularly now from UK to Chicago and to European destinations usually in economy. Currently got some flights booked for BA and AA so wondering which one to use
1) Status is important to me
2) lounge access, upgrades and booking better seats is important to me
3) I think I will fly enough to get to the next level by end of July but not to too end in a year
4) not interested in topping up unless it was to get to real top end or to keep points but ideally not pay at all
5) mainly AA to chicago
6)business traveller
7)no other way of topping up points as I am using Barclaycard platinum for foreign spend as it has 0% transaction fee and cash advance at 0% and business card for business

i can work out on BA flight my tier points easily. So I will hit silver by October on my flight.
how can do the same for AA? Is the price? Does it include tax etc? Not completely sure how it works. Ive read it so many tiems
