Say I'm going to fly 100K EQMs this year. Do I get to choose 1 reward from the 60K level and 1 from the 90k level or I just get the 90k level? |
Certainly this can only be seen as an improvement, and additional incentive for many of us to stretch after requalifying for Plat.
For the past few years I've credited miles to AS soon after reaching 75k on NW, so that I can get MVP or MVPG (I fly a lot up and down the West Coast and those NW upgrade certs aren't useable very ofter). Now, I will have to more carefully evaluate the tradeoff... Platinum Points has never been significant to me since I fly little international and generally don't buy full-fare coach, but Elite ExtraPerks definitely has value - although I agree with others that there are some 'sucker awards' on that list  |

Is there anything of real value at the 1st tier? Don't get me wrong I'm NOT complaining. I love it overall and may add MR to hit the 90k threshold. But the 1 level I will hit - I don't want anything on that list. I wonder how many SWUs are going to start showing up on ebay?? Very sad - all the threads to come on "is it safe to buy them" or "nwa closed my account for selling SWUs"

It states "Once you have registered for the Elite ExtraPerks promotion, you will receive e-mail notifications whenever you reach a new threshold level..." so I would take this to mean that when you hit 60k you choose 1, and then choose again as you attain successive tiers.

Thank you Worldperks! RC Thank you Worldperks for giving us a compelling reason to keep rolling after 75K. Thank you also RC, and The Zipper, you had a big hand in making this happen. I for one am thrilled....and EXCITED! |
Asia/Pacific Gold/Platinum got different reward options, just curious what would be?
Separate reward selection options for the Elite ExtraPerks promotion are available to Gold and Platinum Elite members residing in North America and Asia/Pacific regions based on residency at time of selection. Sweepstakes entries are based on region of residency on March 10, 2008. |

Thank you Worldperks! RC Again I applaud the efforts by RC and thezipper for talking to NWA management regarding increased benefits of Plats with high EQMs. ^ ^ It is definitely a step towards the right direction. While I agree with many that 2 SWUs for 120K EQMs may not sound a lot, we can't just compare them with UA. 1) WBC is a better product than UA's C, and it is not just marginally better. I have been sitting on both quite few times and must say that WBC is much more comfortable, at least for me. 2) NW couldn't afford giving out many SWUs like UA does because it has a much smaller WBC cabin on many planes. Just look at seatmaps of NW A330s and UA 777s/744s. So the numbers are NW: 2 SWUs for 120K, 4 SWUs for 160K UA: 6 SWUs for 100K, 8 SWUs for 150K I do wish that NW could be more generous... After all, any C seat beat NW's Y seat. |

Well something is better than nothing, but I have to agree on this one. If you fly 150k on UA you get 8 swu's not 2. Amid all the "excitement" folks should do the math. you have to fly 45k more EQMs than Plat to get 2 swus. 45k EQMs costs more than just buying the ticket that you use the swu's on.

Even though I am just a silver again this year. (sigh) I am happy with NWA Worldperks! Keep up the good work.
It should be an 'exciting' year for all of us. -BondAir PS: To RC and Zipper keep up the good work! ^ |

Well, if you get to 160 and choose both times for the SWU's you get 4.

Remember also, this isnt a CHANGE to the WPs program. Its a promo.
It is a promotion, like UA's Elite Choice of 2006, not a change to the WP program. Also, you need to be Plat/Gold for 2007 in order to participate. |
I am very pleased. Do you suppose they actually listen to us? ^

Yes, this is a promotion. But for all intents and purposes, it's a change to the WorldPerks program, probably considered just a trial for a year to see how we respond and how it (and they, NW) performs. I agree with a lot of the sentiment about UA/AA vs. NW and SWUs. Sure, NW could have dished out a few more, but consider that NW has fewer C seats internationally than UA/AA, the C product is noticeably better, and NW hasn't really been having any problem filling WBC with paid revenue passengers. I think it's a positive step, especially since this is the first year they're trying it. They'll re-evaluate it after a year and see how it worked. If they continue the promotion, they may decide to make additional tweaks and adjustments. I personally don't know if this is going to be enough to make me hit 120k or 160k only on NW (and partners), but now I have to seriously think about it as there are a few carrots dangling. Also, as I said earlier, everyone values things differently. Some people want the miles, some people want dollars off, others want WC passes, etc. You can't please everyone every time, so they appear to be trying their best to put out a set of choices that will please most of the people most of the time. Thanks to RadioCycle and thezipper for your continued efforts to better the WorldPerks program from the outside-in. There's always a few dissenters, but I think largely the people are intrigued and interested, if not satisfied with the next step in the WorldPerks program. |
Even though I am a lowly silver. I am happy for the people who fly the most that they got some extras and incentives to go over that 100,000 mark. From a personal view I just hope my lowly Silver Status doesnt get diluted now as "friends" can now be Silver and Gold. That one bugs me a bit. That and the fact that they couldnt even throw a tiny tiny tiny bone to us lowly Silver's.
