Suggest that you call them.

just called the gold/plat number and rep told me that i cant register until march 1st. seems odd to me because nwa dot com is currently set up as if you can register now.

can anyone confirm that they have successfully registered from this promo?

Yes.

I go to:

https://www.nwa.com/cgi-bin/wp_viewpromo.pro

and it shows that I'm signed up for "2007 Elite ExtraPerks".

Meh.

Just noticed that the Elite Extra Perks Sweepstakes (henceforth EEPS :D) is for "...legal residents of the 48 contiguous United States (including District of Columbia) and Alaska... Void in Hawaii and where prohibited." Oh well, at least I'm not barred from the overall promotion.

Let's see: Barred from the EEPS OR live in one of the most beautiful places on the planet? I think you win!

Wow this is definitely advantageous to people who are gold/plat. I only fly 3-4 times a year, and it's sporadic between airlines, so yet another neat promotion that I'm afraid won't apply to me (though I did get 9547 EQMs from my DEN-HNL trip...but that means I'd need to do that at least 2-3 more times this year lol).

my take on SWUs

This is what's got everyone in such a flurry of excitement? TWO SWUs? Which you have to fly 120K miles for??

Doesn't UA give a lot more than two (and after only 100K miles)?

Hell, even JAL gives more SWUs than this (and for fewer miles).

Am I the only one who finds this a bit underwhelming?

Well, for folks flying with NW, this SWU stuff is completely new.

It's better than nothing. Besides, WBC is a nice product.

So people have reason to be somewhat excited.

No UA 1K or AA ExPlat would be excited about this enough to move to NW, that's my bet.

In addition, watch out next year.

After tasting the sweets of SWUs, platinum members of NW will demand more SWUs. For example, 4 SWUs for 100,000 EQM and 6 for 150,000EQM. ;) ;)

Or they will wise up and change carriers for MORE swus:)

The implication that NW elites are "unwise" is funny. Really.

Perhaps NW elites just don't like the sub-par business product that other carriers offer? Perhaps other carriers just aren't all they're cracked up to be. Perhaps the whole package of elite on other carriers just doesn't meet everyone's needs? Astonishing, I know...

I can't speak for anyone else, but I really don't think we have enough UA cheerleaders in the NW forum. I'm kind of busy right now, but perhaps someone can take on the task of recruiting some more.

Please pay attention. ;) It's been a couple pages, but to quote myself...

Most folks flying with NW (myself included) haven't seen them, but some have, and this new promo will let more see them.

So how did you manage an OP on UA with no status? :p

Sweepstakes

Found out my question's answer... duh...

I think it's the combination of SWUs with unlimited free domestic upgrades at 90% plus frequency that is compelling. I'm not intimately familiar with all the other programs, but my impression is that you usually get one or the other. (Exception is some kind of SWU for Delta as I recall).
