For the program, if I decide to use one of the 60,000 mile level rewards, will I restart back at zero miles and work my way up again, or will I be able to continue until the 90,000 mile reward level?

thezipper Mar 18, 2007 2:40 pm

when you pass 60k, you get one selection from that group, then when you pass 90k, one from that group and so on... The thing is, you dont have to select your choice until later in the year if your not sure what "perk" you want...

Yes, you can take one selection per level. For example, "2 One-Way Confirmed System-Wide Upgrades" shows up on both the 120,000 and 160,000 level. Would only make sense if you can do one per level.

I'm pretty sure that the 10,000 miles aren't EQM ("bonus miles" never are). Note that the 2500 EQM are just that--elite qualifying miles, not redeemable. Meaning that they are only useful for getting to 75k (PE) or 90K/120K/160K (eliteextraperks). You can't redeem them for flights.

Finally got an answer from NW, and you are right:
Thank you for your recent e-mail.

1. Please be advised you may choose the 10,000
bonus miles, these miles
will not credit to your WorldPerks account as
Elite Qualifying Miles.

2. Yes, you may choose an award each time you
reach a certain level.

Thank you for choosing Northwest Airlines and our
SkyTeam Alliance
airlines. We value your patronage and consider it
a privilege to serve
your travel needs.

Sincerely,

Ok..looking towards to 2008..lets see if we can make it SEGMENTS! I will be at 51+ this week on NW, but only 47K miles...oh well!

No email from Jim yet

I hit 60K EQM's on 4/2. I have been registered for the promotion since 3/1, and I have the NWA emails activated. Based on how quickly others on FT have said they got an email from Jim, I was wondering if something was wrong because I hadn't gotten one yet. So I called today.

NW said that I'm showing up in the system as not eligible, even though I also show up as registered for the promotion and have met the requirements with over 66K EQM's now. The WP agent said that a "super agent" with the title of "Disseminator" is looking into this issue and will email me back within 24 hours.

Has anyone here experienced a similar problem?

Thanks.

HERE IS AN UPDATE:

The WP Service Center didn't have much information about the matter, so I escalated it within NW. I got a very prompt and gracious reply that might be of interest in case others here experience the same problem:

Dear Mr. XXX:

Thank you for contacting us regarding the difficulty you have been experiencing with the Elite ExtraPerks promotion. Your situation was forwarded to me for research and handling. Let me first apologize for the inconvenience you have experience up until this point.

Upon further research of why you have not yet received an e-mail about reaching the 60,000 Elite Qualifying Miles level of the Elite ExtraPerks promotion, we discovered that you were among a small group of customers that involved in a programming issue for a few of our recent promotions. The solution for this issue is currently in the works. I have been in contact with our IS department and have been advised that your account information has been updated, however, there is still a short lag-time that may occur in producing the e-mail you requested. You can expect to see this e-mail in your inbox within the next day or two - the subject line of the e-mail will be "Elite ExtraPerks 2007 Reward Notification - Level 1". Until you receive this e-mail, I have included the relevant information to select this reward option immediately on nwa.com: ...
Kudos to the marketing representative at NW who figured it out. ^

Sounds like I better submit a TTU on this, too! I passed 60k miles on 3/29 and have not received an ElitePerks e-mail even though I show up as registered and get other NWA e-mails.

Any recommendations on exactly what I should say to make sure I get identified properly?

You might just say that:

1) You are registered.
2) Your NWA email is activated.
3) You crossed the 60K threshold 3/29.

The marketing rep who emailed me says he handles a lot of the FT questions that get directed through TTU. He prefers the correspondence go through TTU so they can log the issue for proper follow-up. You could also say that it could be the same issue that mike_plat from FT faced.

Good luck.

Submitted my TTU yesterday right after my last posting here and received the Elite ExtraPerks 60k e-mail about 9 hours later! Have not received a response from my TTU inquiry so it could be a coincidence but I think probably not.

That free gold status looks real nice as a perk.

davetravels Jun 11, 2007 5:59 pm

I guess they fixed the problem. My miles popped in today (Monday) from Saturday's flights that put me over the 60K threshold but no eMail re: the Elite Extra Perks bonus - - - several hours later - VOILA! - eMail in my mailbox - title "Elite ExtraPerks 2007 Reward Notification - Level 1" !! How exciting!!

FourWheels Jun 19, 2007 8:32 pm

It just occurred to me I cleared the 60k hurdle on/around May 27 and in a panic double-checked the date I registered as May 22. :( Are there still technical issues?!

EDIT: Okay, I got to my rewards page by clicking the promo detail link. I don't remember getting an email, but I very well may have.

Anyone select the SWU and actually redeem them for travel

Has anyone, here on the NW forum, reached 120K and chosen the SWU option, and actually redeemed them for travel. Just curious how easy it is to use them.

I am also waiting with baited breath for the first report. I will reach 120K in August (just over 100K now) and I really want to find out if these things book straight out of C and how easily. I was planning to use one right away but my Int travel has shifted from Asia to Europe for the next 3 months and I do not want to "waste" one on a Europe flight.

Level 1 :)

My 36th segment (on KL) finally posted with the usual 1-week lag (after my 38th, on CO, had already posted, but before my 37th, a short hop on KL), pushing me comfortably past the 60K mark.

No email about it yet, but going to http://www.nwa.com/eliteextraperks/ and picking the "Elite ExtraPerks promotion details page" (https://www.nwa.com/cgi-bin/wp_redee...liteextraperks) link in the text above the table, then logging in, I land on https://www.nwa.com/cgi-bin/wp_redeem_rewards.pro where I get to choose my level 1 reward. :)

"During the last year, we realize you have spent a lot of time and money traveling with Northwest Airlines," it says. O RLY? That's strange; my spreadsheet says year to date, almost 80% of my EQMs have been either KL around Europe and Africa, AF between Europe and SE Asia, or CO TATL from Europe to EWR. ;)

None of the Level 1 options are of any interest to me except the bonus EQMs... and I think I'll wait, as has been suggested by others, to see whether come December I'm in a position where 2500 EQMs will mean the difference between status tiers (unlikely, since to miss PE at this point, I'd have to not fly things I've already booked) or EEP levels. If I am, I'll take 'em for this year; if not, they'll be a nice little start (almost as good as a HNL-LAX leg) for next year.

I figure I may hit 90K this year. I don't really feel a strong desire to rack up 120K EQMs in one year... that feels like "too much flying" to me. :D
