Pre-Boarding
Being on the already over crowded DTW-DFW flight this morning, it would have been nice if the GA's would have told the people how to read their boarding pass. It became apparent that more than a few couldn't read that their seats were not in FC, nor were they close. (Although as luck would have it, their bags got to ride in FC)
What does one have to do in order to have NW or the GA's start enforcing who can board when?

As much as I wish I were kidding on this thread, is there anything one can actually do?
I'm actually looking for something from the FA's on this.
Maybe instead of the new boarding lanes, they should have a sign that helps you read your ticket. And if you still try to board the GA's whip out a bull horn, ask if anyone in line has a copy of "hooked on phonics" and send you to the back of the line.

In what is supposed to be a customer-service oriented business, enforcing boarding rules is going to make a lot of customers displeased. NW could hire enough GAs capable of enforcing boarding rules, and make people not feel displeased, but I presume there's no budget for it. And besides, IMO, GAs are more driven to move the flight, then to please the customer (sorry about that...).
That's the reality of it. Any other discussion is just venting... and heaven knows this poster has vented enough regarding this topic...

I don't understand why the boarding rules have become an issue again. In short time, there WILL NOT be any boarding rules other than those needing help board first with the FC section. Once this is done, EVERYONE else will be asked to get on creating a mess at the gate. Once the elite line is set up at every gate in the system, it will hopefully make for an easier boarding for the elites.

I haven't seen an elite boarding lane yet. I wonder if NW has thought of boarding window seats first, then middles seats in the main cabin to alleviate crowding. Its wild now.

Well, whatever they're up to, they're going to hear it loud and clear from frequent flyers. The process right now sounds frustrating. I think that NW should rethink what they're up to, particularly if they don't yet have the elite boarding lane working.
