My last trip to LGA I got in a Lyft on the Lower East Side at 8:30am Friday morning and was at the gate (after stopping to go to the bathroom and fill up my water bottle) at 8:55am.

Lyft has a new system in place for terminals C/D

You request a lyft, and get a 4 digit code which you show to a lyft dispatcher in Row M who directs you to a waiting car. Huge improvement.

I assume that depends - if there are 50 people in front of you in line, it could still suck. But I do think it's easier for everyone. Someone posted this in the Ride Share forum a few months ago (I think Lyft has been experimenting with this elsewhere), there was one poster who was strongly against the idea, something like "if I wanted to line up for a car, I'd take a taxi".

Assuming they manage the queue efficiently (which I guess is a big assumption), I think I'd still rather be in a queue with 50 people ahead of me than have all 51 of us assigned to specific drivers, with 51 passengers and 51 drivers trying to find each other in a crowded and chaotic parking lot.

Thanks. That will likely be pertinent in a few weeks. Does the app tell you where to go and/or is there signage for the dispatcher?

Yes when you select Terminal C as your pickup location and choose the regular Lyft option it gives a prompt to get a code and tells you which row to go to in the pickup area.

There are signs and the dispatcher had a lyft-purple high vis vest on

Yes, perhaps! Though in bad weather, at least you could wait inside for most of that time.

The PANYNJ has partnered with the VIA app to offer "LGA Connect" airport rideshare service. The service will provide $15 shared rides to most NYC boroughs ($20 to certain areas of the Bronx and Staten Island).
How it Works:
LGA Connect rides can be booked 7 days a week between 8 am and 1 am with a credit card through the Via app, or with the help of a dispatcher at a designated “LGA Connect” pickup point outside of Terminal C/D. In the Via app, passengers select “LGA Connect” from the menu, and enter their desired destination. Via’s algorithm matches multiple passengers headed in the same direction into a single vehicle and provides passengers with vehicle identification information and an ETA. Rides depart within 10 minutes, and passengers will be dropped off at a nearby corner within walking distance of their destination.

Does anyone know how Groundlink works at LGA? We arrive on a friday night at about 10pm, three of us and I wanted to make the pickup as smooth as possible since my mom is traveling with us. From what i gather the Uber and Lyft situation is horrible so was considering Groundlink if they can pick us up curbside.

What Terminal will you be using? For Terminal B there are no curbside livery pickups permitted. Terminals A will be easiest. The situation at Terminals C/D seems to change every few weeks.

Honestly I am not sure, we arrive Domestic on American airlines, from MIA. I think that is C/D right?

On a Friday night, with much luggage, is it better to fly into JFK vs LGA?

does arriving on Delta vs AA to LGA make a difference?

waiting outside for 10 minutes would be worth 20 minutes in a car to avoid.

No, AA is terminal B. Ride share pickups are in the parking garage, but I have no personal experience. Taxi might be the easiest option, just get in line next to the terminal exit, probably won’t be bad at that hour.

Well apparently B taxi stand is now remote too. Ugh. ride share in the garage is probably the best option.

This is such a pain, I should have researched better before deciding on LGA. I thought same that at 11pm at night, it might not be bad with traffic but darn, this just keeps getting interesting, I just want a nice curbside pickup so my mom doesn't have to lug stuff to a remote stand. I'm so tossed, I don't know if to go for groundlink and take a chance they do curbside or just so my amex Uber credit when we arrive. sigh.
