Multiple accounts is generally against the rules of the programs. You may get away with it, you may not, but not sure it's something I'd be comfortable with in either case.

You mean uncomfortable with? The worst that could have happen is that they close your account and take away all your miles, right, or would they even do that? If so, and one has little stake in the airline, the match could still potentially make sense, I guess...

Fair enough, I'm not preaching or debating a 'correct' morality, we all have a moral sense to be comfortable with even when it comes to FF programs. And abandoning old accounts, opening new ones, in order to get a second (or third!) status match just feels over some line for me. YMMV. (And it could just be that I've been up most of the night. )

Oh, completely agree with you there. Sorry, I didn't realize that's what you were saying with your post... I also should get to bed eventually.

Does anyone have the experience of using UA membership to match TG's? I plan to try and would like to the possibility.

Thanks.

The link to the archived thread on British Midland in the first post no longer works. There's some applicable information in this current one, though:

Do BMI status match?

BTW, the airline has identified itself publicly as "bmi," not "British Midland," since 2003 - though it's still legally British Midland Airways, owned by holding company British Midland plc.

(Pardon me if this has already been mentioned, but a thread search didn't turn up any occurrences of "midland" outside the first post or others quoting it, and "bmi" is too short to be a valid search string.)

I don't think that TG would even entertain this concept...

I just noticed on the first page: "American will consistently match United status to equivalent level up to mid-tier (Platinum)."

Does this mean AA is now offering status match instead of challenge for United Elite? for example 1K. Is there a fax number I can use? Thanks!

That was the case a few years ago ( I was comped from UA), but the only reports on the AA forum these days tend to be from FTers that are comped in via their corporate travel agent. Everyone else seems to be offered a "challenge".

This always sucks, although when I called them a few months ago they said they do it a couple times a year. Has anyone managed calling and getting an exception to the challenge, or advanced status along with a challenge, recently?

No Delta Matches After June 30th???

Delta told me today that their "Other Airline Status Match" promotion runs from June 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007.

The promotion information stated that if credentials were received before July 1, 2006, then status would be granted only until Feb 2007. If, however, credentials were received on or after July 1, then status would be granted through Feb 2008. (Note, this seems to firmly establish last year's "magic date.")

Presumably, the "magic date" will be the same this summer. The problem, however, is that there is no promotion currently in the system for '07-'08. Is this normal, or is it possible that Delta will no longer offer matches after June 30th?

I'd like to request a match, but only after the "magic date" (in order to gain status through Feb '09). If I wait until July 1st, though, might I be left out in the cold?

Response from Delta

Here's the response I got from Delta regarding whether matches will be granted after June 30th.

At this time, the "Other Airline Status Match" promotion will expire
June 30, 2007.
We do not have any information indicating the promotion
will be extended beyond that date. If credentials are sent now, before
July 1, 2007, members receive status through February 2008. There is no
information indicating the program would extend matching beyond February
of next year.

AA to other airlines

I'm going to be Lifetime platinum on AA. What other airlines will let me transfer my platinum to their equivalant levels?
