UA status match --
I applied for a status match last week using the fax number at the beginng of the thread. I simply sent a short note saying I was considering transferring my business to UA if they could match my current silver status with NWA. 3 days later, I received the following email. This seems to be a bit different than what I was expecting based on other's experiences in this thread. It seems that this is a cross between a match and a challenge.
Obviously, 6250 miles isn't a lot, and I'll easily meet that on the two trips I have within the next month. But for those considering a status match before flying the UA SFO-AKL deal, it looks like you better wait until your trip falls within the 90 day window or else you might be disappointed.
>>>
Congratulations! You have been awarded Premier status in the Mileage Plus program! This will make
your travel with us comfortable, simple and more rewarding than ever.
Your status will be effective for 90 days. To keep the status through February 2008, just earn 6,250
base flight miles or 8 base flight segments on United, Ted or United Express within the 90-day
timeframe. Once you meet that threshold, a Premier kit will be generated and mailed. Until you have
a card, be sure to add your Mileage Plus number to your reservation in order to fully benefit from
your elite status.
To maintain the status throughout all of 2008, you must earn 25,000 Elite Qualifying Miles (EQM) or
30 Elite Qualifying Segments (EQS) by December 31, 2007. EQM and EQS are earned on United, United
Express, Ted and the Star Alliance members listed below:

Anyone know whether there are still no status matches for AA? I remember last time I called they said they did it a few times a year, but I have still not seen anything posted here. Anyone?

Lucky, I think your best bet is to do the Gold or Platinum Challenge for 5K/10K miles in 90 days. I believe they have changed the fares that qualify for the challenge so you should check before booking any flights. If anyone knows differently about any exceptions to the status match rule please share.

What's the point of status matching to UA before the SFO-AKL flight? The flight is already booked into Int'l business class which means you will get Lounge Access and other Business Class perks like check-in, etc. And just from that flight you will earn enough EQMs to qualify for Premier. I see no reason to status match before the flight. Or am I missing something?

A previous poster had reported that UA require you to attain about 6000 miles within 90 days of being matched in order to keep the status.
For me, it really depends on how long the status is valid for (I think UA expires in Mar? I am sure a more informed FTer will correct me if I am wrong!
) and when I plan on flying *A.

Quick question before I fly out of Heathrow tomorrow - Recently became UA Prem Exec after matching Plat status with AA. Any suggestions on which Star Alliance lounge I should choose relax in at Terminal 3?
