Quote: I am already past this point. I had to write a letter to Chase Executive office and include my coupons and account opening receipts for both personal and business account. The Chase Continental liaison people are completely incompetent.
I hope you will have better luck with them.
I live in hope.

Quote: OK I'm a dunce. I funded my wifes account with my new United Mileage Plus 50k Visa Chase card. Will I have to refund another $100 to get the miles.

Man, I just want to smack myself....
So, just a few personal experiences on some stuff posted in the thread. I applied about a month ago. YMMV, but I figure the more anecdotal experience the better.

1) I funded with my Chase Mileage Plus card for $500. It posted as a credit card charge and I just got my 22.5 bonus miles. So, at least for me, it was considered new cash by Chase and I got United miles.

2) I did not open the account with my name precisely as it appears on my OnePass account. There was no opportunity for entering my OP number online during the account opening process. Chase opened a second OP account for me. I was ultimately able to get Continental to merge them, but it took a while.

Quote: My 1st statement closed so fast (I got the card 3 days ago) that only 2 debit card transactions posted. I did 5 right away, but since only 2 posted, I'm technically short of the fee waiver requirement of 5. I trust that I won't get charged a fee for such an abbreviated statement cycle (<10 days). But out of curiosity, for those who've been charged the $6 before, did it show on the statement or did it post a few days later?

My first statement did not list any fees. I'll keep an eye on the account for the next couple of days just in case.
Even if the fee shows up (which I doubt) you can always send a message through Chase's site and they will remove it for the first time.

Whoa, what is this wording?

"This bonus mile offer is not available to customers with an existing Chase checking account."

Ah, I was just going to open up the business version.

There is no Chase branch within 100 miles of me. This week I was in NYC for 2 days for a family vacation and I slipped out for 30 minutes to open the account. Well worth the 30 minutes while the family was still sleeping.

I just routed $125 of my paycheck to them as a direct deposit. I hope there is no min amount of the DD and there was no mention of an amount on any form. My employer allows me to manage my DD online so it is easy to change banks and amounts and split the paycheck.

I wanted the CC too but since I just got the BA and UA ones, I do not want to push it. They offered a home equity loan during the process but the system did not offer the CC.

Quote: I called and was told that since I opened the account in December, but the miles didn't post until mid-January, Chase may count that as a 2010 calender year reward. But she also promised to follow up and call me back. We'll see.

The Chase online rep was quite unhelpful, telling me to call the regular Continental 800 number.
Little follow up from my March 26th post.

Got a call back from an agent that said that I would be getting the miles at the end of the next billing cycle. They never appeared, but a call back got 10,000 posted within a week. I waited for the end of the next billing cycle, called again, and the remaining 12,500 was posted that afternoon.

It was annoying to have to make multiple calls, but they were answered quickly (within 2 minutes) and the agents were really friendly and helpful. It's amazing how nice it is to speak to a competent, english-speaking agent these days.

I just got my final 2,500 miles for the personal account I opened on 4/1. They actually post on your Chase checking statement instead of directly to your OnePass account like the other sets of miles. Oddly, they have not debited the $65 preferred debit card fee yet.

As an aside, none of the Chase activity has shown up as Mileathon credit yet.

celebrated getting a new job in Manhattan by opening a new Chase account on Broadway... lol

signed up for the 25,000 mile offer... my existing OP account has 0 miles in it, so I opted for opening a new one to prevent from any potential issues arising.

we'll see how it goes. looking forward to the United merger so I can actually have a more meaningful amount of miles between the two

Existing Customer not qualified?
Hi,

Just saw this offer (personal version) and would like to give it a trail, but I see the condition has "not valid of existing customer", I do have a Chase checking (from WAMU) now, do I need to close it first? How long should I wait before applying this checking? Could it work if I open a joint account with my 4- year-old son (who obviously has no existing account )

thanks

Is the business account available in fewer states than the personal account? I had no problems opening the personal account (I'm in MD), but can't get the business account to work.

This promotion has been such a big pain in the rear for me! Several e-mails and phone calls to Chase and still no miles, after completing all of the qualifying non-pin transactions. The bonus sign-up I finally received on my second statement is only for 2,500 miles. After e-mailing chase again, they said they cannot locate this promotion.

You are not the only one! Personal promo worked fine, the business promo is like the promo from hell as I've been trying to get my CO miles after I opened the account in October 2009! Does anyone have a direct line phone number for the people who deal with these issues? I took my wife to open a personal checking account last week, we are not dealing with the business promos anymore

How long after the bonus miles post do I need to wait before closing the account (personal checking)? I've heard both 3 months and 6 months. Is there something in the T&Cs that I am missing?
