Too bad you're not my local Chase banker. Actually, you evidently used one of the earlier coupons that do not have that new wording explicitly stating that customers who already have a Chase checking account are NOT eligible for another bonus.

Try another branch? I just did it this past Friday, with a coupon printed just that day, so I doubt much has changed.

Unless I can find a coupon without that 1 bonus/household disclaimer, I guess I need to find either an illiterate or incompetent manager. Which, I admit, may not be all that difficult.

Wow, I guessed I, somehow, lucked out. I opened up a 2nd CO Bonus chkg acct about 2 weeks ago with a coupon I printed out 3 or so weeks ago. Timing is everything. Actually, the only reason I finally decided (had the printed coupon around for a few weeks) to take coupon, go to bank was the UA/CO merger development---figuring that this might change things somehow even though there was a "June 30, 2010" expiration date. Well, I kinda doubt that the merger had anything to do with the new policy, but whatever, I'm sure GLAD that I acted fast. I think that it's this way with a lot of things in life. You know: "Snooze, you lose."

Looking at my (used) coupon...the language is the new one. I've never have had a problem with miles posting/opening an account. Then again, I did see "Hooked on Phonics" cds on my banker's desk...

I received my Chase OnePass Debit Card. I didn't realize, until I read through the materials they sent, that even though it is a debit card, you can use choose credit when you swipe the card at any retailer, bypass using the your PIN and meet Chase' requirements easily. Glad to know this will be easy.

Yeah, and banks now prefer that transactions with a debit card being done as "credit." Huh? I don't really understand why banks are pushing for debit card users to use it as a credit card. What's next, credit card users be encouraged to do transactions as "debit transaction?" Why do banks want us debit card users to proceed as if we're using a "credit card"? Can somebody explain?

Because they get to charge the merchant for a credit card transaction fee, which is much higher than the debit card transaction fee.

...for now. That may change, or at the very least be reduced, by legislation currently under consideration.

I opened a 2nd Chase checking account on 3/25/10. The first two tranches of miles (10k and 12.5k) haven't posted, but the final tranche of 2,500 miles posted to my Continental account a few days ago.

I was annoyed to learn that I have to wait "at least 8 weeks" before Chase will pursue this problem, even though I am surer than sure that the miles aren't going to post.

I'm vaguely worried that Chase will claim that I'm not eligible, because I already had a checking account open, but I've kept the miles certificates they sent, and even a copy of the on-line T & C (neither of which mention such a restriction), so I figure I'm actually in the right on this one.

I am already past this point. I had to write a letter to Chase Executive office and include my coupons and account opening receipts for both personal and business account. The Chase Continental liaison people are completely incompetent.
I hope you will have better luck with them.

My 1st statement closed so fast (I got the card 3 days ago) that only 2 debit card transactions posted. I did 5 right away, but since only 2 posted, I'm technically short of the fee waiver requirement of 5. I trust that I won't get charged a fee for such an abbreviated statement cycle (<10 days). But out of curiosity, for those who've been charged the $6 before, did it show on the statement or did it post a few days later?

My first statement did not list any fees. I'll keep an eye on the account for the next couple of days just in case.
