Had a friend who's NW GE request a status match to BD via email on monday - BD status upgraded to Gold on Wednesday.

Which Skyteam airline would be the best to match with? DL or NW?

Someone reported in the Other South American FFP forum that LAN Chile of Oneworld does status match.

I am UA 1k out of SFO.. Corporate travel pretty much exclusively and generally get UA booking. More of my travel is going through Atl and UA has greatly reduced route and increase fares to ATL. I expect the bulk of my travel in the next year will be UA so I am looking for a 2nd alternative. I doubt I'd book NW in lieu of UA given my u/g instruments on UA
I assume SM on NW would not help much if I fly Delta in 2009 - I will be hard pressed to realistically fly >25k miles on either.
Unless I am missing something it would seem my best alternative would be to ask for Delta Gold SM.
Comments appreciated...

coldfoot, if you match to NW you could get Platinum status comped, and now that DL and NW have reciprocal upgrades, this would be your best bet, in my opinion. Upgrades on DL clear for NW Plat members before DL Gold members.

BMI comped me Gold status. I might credit flights to it or I might just use it as a RCC/US membership.

lucky,
Can you please update this thread with the following information re: Lan Chile (Oneworld), this airline does match status but you must follow the procedure outlined in this thread:

Lan Chile elites get free upgrades, which can be quite valuable and the Oneworld status means free lounge access with AA, BA and others.

Tha category match was done immediately. I received the pack some weeks later. This year upgrade coupons are electronic, so no need to wait for the package.
Today I have 149500 EQK (K=Kilometers) with LANPASS. This means I'm qualifying for Comodoro (emerald) in my next trip, even if I fly to the nearest city.

Also lucky, you can update the British Midland instructions to...when I asked what they wanted to see, they said "send us your statement showing your status". The card was not needed when I matched.

I'm currently Gold (Elite +) on Flying Blue.
Moving to Colombia early next year, would be interested in a status match on CO OnePass, so I can take advantage of the perks (especially elite-status upgrades) on CO, CM and AeroRepublica, before and after the switch to *A.
Any idea whether I'd me matched to Elite+ status, starting 2009? Is there a CO email address I could write to for a preliminary assessment/advice, before sending in all the documentation?
Thanks for your help!
