cabrits, you can write anything within reason (i.e., anything but "I want this status match so that I can get an upgrade for the one trip I have planned with your airline, and I never plan on flying with you again). You could say that you're frustrated with your current airline of choice, your travel patterns have changed, you've moved, you want to give a new airline a try, etc.

same question.. appreciate sage advice...
I am UA 1k out of SFO.. Corporate travel pretty much exclusively and generally get UA booking. More of my travel is going through Atl and UA has greatly reduced route and increase fares to ATL. I expect the bulk of my travel in the next year will be UA so I am looking for a 2nd alternative. I doubt I'd book NW in lieu of UA given my u/g instruments on UA
I assume SM on NW would not help much if I fly Delta in 2009 - I will be hard pressed to realistically fly >25k miles on either.
Unless I am missing something it would seem my best alternative would be to ask for Delta Gold SM.
Comments appreciated...

No need to include NW Silver, as 1P should do it for DL Gold.

CO to NW?
Hi folks.
I just achieved my Gold with CO and am considering status match to NW. Rationale:
*I fly about 50% of my miles with AS within AK, and they will upgrade NW Elite but not CO.
*I fly ANC-CLE quite a bit, usually on NW, which means I only get 50% EQM. Why not start the year out getting 100% of them?
*CO's defection to *A and NW/DL merger--I'd rather stay in SkyTeam since my family is located in the ATL/AL area, Delta's hub.
*Upcoming trip with husband and I found out (correct me if I'm wrong) that NW will not UG companions for CO Gold. Correct?
*Hopefully after this year hubby and I will be moving to New Mexico, where I won't be doing nearly as much travel and, if I do, it'll be on SW primarily.
Basically I'm waiting for someone to give me good reasons not to do this and also what I should send them. For some reason, this makes me nervous.
Help please!?!?

The only risk might be that CO is still SkyTeam so they might not match it right now.
But next year they convert to *A so either they match you anyways because they have that in mind or the latest when the transition is completed.
You can just send them an email to check it out.

Thanks Tom92591. I just wrote to OnePass, we'll see what they say.
In the meantime, I've realised that Gold level on OnePass is always Elite and never Elite Plus, regardless of whether one lives in the US or elsewhere (unlike Flying Blue, where Gold is Elite Plus for those resident in Europe).
Should I accept a status match to One Pass Gold (Elite) if that's what they offer me? I've seen that would not give me lounge access, which I'm not too happy about. But other than that, what are the major differences between OnePass Gold and One Pass Plat? I guess a major issue for me would be complimentary upgrades for example... Would would my chances be, as a Gold member?

They got back to me very quickly in fact... I've been given One Pass Gold status (i.e. Elite status, as opposed to E+ on FB)... I hope this will get me a few complimentary international upgrades at least...
Cheers!

? for New NWA Status Matchers
whose approval letter/email stated they matched through 2010 and have already received your new WorldPerks card:
Does your new card reflect your extended status promised through Feb 2010 or does the card simply list good through Feb 2009?
I requested a match to Platinum Elite in mid November but never received the "official" approval letter/email. iirc, that's where most FTers said NWA noted the 2010 extension language.
Evidently, I was approved as my new Platinum card and package arrived today but the card has an end date of Feb 2009.
Before I contact NWA and request an extension I just want to see what the cards of y'all who were promised the extension states.
thanks
