http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum91/HTML/000228.html (many thanks to RichLond).
Change from 4:1 to 8:1 will become effective on May 1. According to GP's CSR (and confirmed by a supervisor), today's transfers still yield 4:1 ratio.

Thanks for the information. Was there a mailing (email or paper)from "GoldPoints" or Radisson for this and I missed it? I'll check it out and convert my remaining goldpoints by tomorrow. Earlier this year I converted 200,000 gold points to 50,000 AA miles. I would have "lost" half of that!

No, there was no warning given. Apparently, Radisson/GoldPoints is planning on notifying members AFTER the change occurs (in 2 days)...
See the Radisson link above for more info. This is unbelievable, but not unexpected.

If this is really happening (and I believe it is), people need to be notified ASAP. If Goldpoints/Radisson won't do it, maybe Randy/Webflyer could. Any chance of sending out a MilesLink alert on this to all the email newsletter subscribers and/or all registered Flyertalkers?

I just got off the phone with the Radisson Goldpoints redemption desk, I asked if the redemption rate was indeed going to change on May 1 and "John" said that they had received an email from their supervisor this morning saying that the redemption rates wouldn't change with only two days notice, i.e customers would be given ample notice before such a drastic change. Regardless, I'm a a member of the "better safe than sorry" club so I redeemed ALL of my points ...

Better safe than sorry, I guess.

Mark, a Goldpoints Supervisor, was dealing with another problem of mine and asked if I had seen this issue on the board. I hadn't.
He ASSURED me that Goldpoint points would be taking care of its customers. He asked me to share this with you all.
Let's hope that Goldpoints lives up to his promise. So far they seem to be a decent company to work with in spite of the Valuemags fiasco.

FWIW, "special" transfer rates, would it be current 4:1 or the allegedly upcoming 8:1, are benefits of Radisson, not GoldPoints (there is a distinction here!), and "regular" (i.e., for GP members not associated with Radisson) GoldPoints transfer rates are (and always have been) 10:1.

I got 6K out today ASAP. Now my husband's account and mine are short of the 2000 for the next redemption. I am going to call my local TGIF later and buy gift certs: $10 (mine) and a $100 (his) for our accounts to bring them up to the 2K level and cash out tomorrow.
Fridays is very accomodating about things like this. I will give my radisson number and the points will post instantly. I will ask them to hold the certs til the next time I drive by.
Then we'll just see what develops at goldpoints and I hope they are worth using in the future. They have been very good to me!

So what happens if I call up tomorrow and ask to transfer 250,000 points to AA miles. Since this will take 5 days at 50,000 points a day, would the transfers taking place in May get the 10-1 conversion rate, even if requested in April?
