A "MY POINTS" QUESTION

MyPoints has its uses, but they're pretty specific.
I click on MyPoints emails, I make eBay bids through MyPoints (2 pts/$); Hotwire bids are 750 points/bid, so if I am bidding on something with a price of less than $200-$250 I'll take MyPoints over a 2% rebate at FatWallet.
Between all of that I got a $100 Marriott Cheque (and it came promptly) so I'm not complaining. If I were planning a trip to Northern Europe, I'd redeem for Hilton points and use them at a Scandic hotel.

I just reached slightly over the 2,500 point mark. For the last couple of days, I have tried to redeem for the 2,500 HHonors points. It will not allow me to do it saying that I do not have enough points.
Has anyone else had this problem?

It has happened to me but for a different reward. I couldn't understand why my acct. said I had 3300 pts but I wasn't able to redeem a reward that cost 3250 pts. I emailed my points and they did respond (although it took a few days) and stated that some of my points were "pending" therefore not actually available for use. I had to wait approx 2 weeks before the points were all posted and available to redeem.
Check your acct statement for the last few months and see if any points are pending. That might be the problem.

Well, I am just over 10k...which is better...10k Hhonors or 5k MP...or should I think of Marriott?
I could use any of them...which is the better value and will I receive the award from MyPoints given the nature of this thread?

Ditto. I believe that often times points that involve merchant purchases appear as pending for awhile, possibly to ensure that you haven't returned the item or something. The Account Statement makes it pretty clear how many points are pending, so if thats the problem, you'll know.
MyPoints these days is of very little value to me -- I can get much more worthwhile points through something like AA's AAdvantage EShopping Portal. However, it doesn't hurt to click on those BonusPoints emails... I have them go to a GMail account I setup soley for MyPoints, and I check it about once every week or two (the emails, I believe, expire after something like a month). It takes awhile, but for only a few clicks a day, its still worth that little bit of time to me.

An Update
Well, here it is, 3 weeks after my OP, and I still haven't received any kind of response from MyPoints, good, bad, or indifferent, on my question. Amazing, isn't it?

Update Ii
Well, after calling and leaving another message along with the reference # of my original e-mail, I received a response within an hour.
BTW, the answer to my original question was: "Yes you can have the miles credited to your wife's acct, by entering her FF# when it is requested."
Now all that's left is to see how long it takes for the miles to post.

Good luck
Unless they've changed, I tried it in the past (HHonors) and it came back telling me the name on the MYPoints account had to match the name on the HHonors acct. Hopefully it's different for airlines.

Requested transfer of MyPoints to HHnonors on 22nd December last year -- points deducted immediately, but nothing posted yet. Sent two messages reminding them and duly received two machine generated replies.
Quite unsatisfactory.

Still waiting here as well.....
No points posted for Hilton in four weeks and no points for my Overstock.com purchase 900 points, and no reply to my 3rd email. If they ever read them they will know that I intend to only make another purchase thru their portal after the prior purchase posts, otherwise it is only clicks from emails. I think they are going the way of alot of other programs.
Funny thing is that E-Rewards posts right away, and are they not the same parent company?

Once I had trouble getting MyPoints to credit me for a Dell purchase. It wasn't until I wrote to MyPoints (again) and cc'd Dell's customer service as well that MyPoints finally responded.
I'm guessing they wanted to look customer-oriented in front of their points partner. Whatever...it worked and the points were credited not long thereafter.

Some points are not available for immediate redemption, but take a few days to become so available. Just wait a couple of days and try again.

First off, I've been "lurking around" on this site for a month or so picking up tons of great info - so huge thanks to all the Moderators and members here for establishing such a great site!
After reading everyone's experiences here in this thread, if I was not already a MyPoints member, I would probably not be likely to join at all. But I figured Id jump in here because my experiences with MyPoints has actually been very good. I have yet to have any major problems almost everything (e-mail clicks, portal purchases, etc.) has shown up within a day or 2. There was one purchase (a $70 purchase through Overstock, which through their Holiday Instant Win game I won double pointsOverstock is normally 10 pts/$ so doubled made it 20 points/$). So it was around a 1500 point purchase that never showed upso I contacted them about it (using the link in my account statement), received the auto response pretty quickly, then received another response probably 3-4 days later informing me that the points had been posted. I logged in to check, and sure enough, they were there. Between that purchase, a 3500 point offer for signing up with PeoplePC internet (just paid for one month at $5.97), and several other shopping portal purchases, I made my way up to 10,000 points in about 2 1/2 months. It was February 4 when I finally broke 10,000 points, and submitted a request for 5,000 United miles. I then received the automated response that I should be contacted within 72 hours. Although I didnt hear anything in 72 hours, I did receive a response on the February 13 (5 business days later) that said:
Thank you for contacting MyPoints Member Services.
Rest assured your United Mileage Plus redemption is being processed. Please allow up to 7-10 days for the Miles to post to your United Mileage Plus account.
If you have not seen the change in your Mileage Plus account within the specified timeframe, please provide your United Mileage Plus account number and we will be happy to contact the vendor on your behalf.I just logged into my MP account today, and sure enough, 5000 additional miles had posted. So, overall, my experience has been pretty good.I wonder why everyone elses here is so drastically different..??
