A "MY POINTS" QUESTION

I tried e-mailing a question to My Points ( I can't find any 800 # to call on their website). They give you specific instructions to please not send multiple e-mails, as this will slow down response time. Well, it's been a full two weeks and so far no response, so I would like draw upon the combined experience of FT to ask if anyone might know the answer by experience or otherwise: I want to redeem My Points for United miles, but can I direct that they be credited to my wife's MP account? Thanks.

I don't know that, but I have a MyPoints phone number from some time ago: 888-262-4528.

Thanks. I called and Surprize! no one answered but I got a recorded message saying that "due to the holidays" they have unusually high call volume, but if you leave a message they'll respond within 24-48 hours. I left a message. We'll see.

We tried to credit my wifes MYPOINTS to my HHonors account and couldn't. Names on both accounts have to be the same. I'd bet United works the same way, though I'm not 100% sure.

I have on 2 separate occasions added HHonors points to my husband's account. Although it took almost 3 months they were posted. My points is VERY VERY slow in emailing about questions. I personally wrote one email a week asking when my points would post since its says 6-8 weeks and it took closer to 10 weeks. But I did get mile points

It took them a little over 4 months for posting miles into my MP account.
MyPoints is extremely slow.

Since someone brought up Mypoints...I noticed recently that I had less points than about a month ago. I keep a rough log of purchases/points and believe me, Mypoints are only sought when nothing better available. Anyway, I made a couple of Christmas purchases via a Mypoint promo ( I kept both emails) that were posted to my accoutn but now they're gone When you try and review the "detailed" mypoints summary, no mention at all, I would have at least expected to see where they had originally posted and then were reversed. These were legit purchases and should have been 300 & 500 points. Now they're vaporized. Anyone with similar experience? Based on other posted seems like a waste of my time to fool with email complaints.

Thanks to all posters!
I was debating on the issue of United Miles over Hilton points. Since the miles take so long, it is back to Hilton for me!

PS: So I made the redemption for 2500 Hilton Points and instead of getting the points posted to my account I get an email today:
Thank you for contacting MyPoints Member Services. We are writing to let you know
that we have received your message, and it has been allocated tracking number 4684728.

A Member Services Associate should respond to your inquiry within 72 hours, however
we are experiencing a high volume of inquiries this holiday season so it may take
slightly longer. Rest assured that your inquiry will be responded to.

To help expedite our response to your inquiry, we ask that you refrain from sending
multiple emails regarding the same issue. Sending multiple emails to us will add
to our overall inquiry volume and further delay our responses to you and other members.

Thanks again for writing in to MyPoints Member Services. We will be following up
with you very soon.

Best Regards,

MyPoints Member Services

Thing is I never wrote to Mypoints about this. I hope this is not another long drawn out case of freezing my account like they did to my mother a year ago, and even though we faxed in copies of our passports for proof of who we are, they cancelled her account, no if's ands or buts. Now after I place 3 orders for the holidays and finally get the points posted, they look like they are again stalling. I would love to go to San Francisco and have Mom and I walk into their offices and have them tell us that we do not exist!

While my experience has been that the points do take quite a long time to post, they do eventually post. The best use for MYPOINTS I have found is for Office Depot. They give you 10 points per dollar. I almost weekly am able to order $400.00 for the office. Not only do you get the Mypoints, but you also get the miles for charging on your card. And a third plus is if you are enrolled in the free Office Depot Advantage buying club, which gives you up to $200.00 per year in cash rebates.
So the combination of Mypoints, miles and rebates makes it worth the wait for points to post.

Good news-bad news--it is not your account apparently--I got the same email 6 weeks ago when I redeemed for HH. My points have not yet posted to my account and I have gotten no response to my email to Mypoints.I am no longer responding to any Mypoints emails,as they are not posting either.

They used to post within a day or two.
The only other thing I can think of is that it might have something to do with UA emerging from Bankruptcy and how they might want to wait to spend the money for the HHonors points?

Just a thought...

I have started the process of redeeming 2500 HHonors Points twice in the last two months, and in both cases I got this email. And I think I figured out why. This is the automatic email you get when you email Customer Service (you know, for them to try to excuse the fact it takes weeks to respond to your emails). At the bottom you'll find a section quoting the email its responding to -- and it should be the request for redemption. Apparently, when you request to redeem 2500 MyPoints for 2500 HHonor points, all the MyPoints system does is deduct your points and then send an automatic email to Customer Service requesting the redemption. And when Customer Service gets the automatic email requesting redemption, it sends the standard reply to you, thinking it came from you.

Anyway, thats what I've deduced... I have no idea whether or not its true. If it is true, that might help explain why it takes awhile--the fact that actual people are involved.

I found out that all their customer service is done in India and they don't want you to call them. I got tired of all the spam and the poor service. A friend turned me on to www.bondrewards.com - and is a better program. I actually get US Savings Bonds when I shop online. Since i do that anyway i figured why not and they have all the same stores as mypoints - so far i got 3 savings bonds that's $150. better than points anytime.

Thanks for the info on the bond program, sounds interesting, as Mypoints now leaves alot to be desired. The outsourcing to India explains alot in the way of service these days.

I stopped using Mypoints a long time ago in favor of airline shopping portals.

Between CO, which is my primary carrier, and AA shopping, there are very few merchants not included that I can get miles from. I don't fly AA, but they are one of the few airlines still allowing transfer to Hilton.

I only use Mypoints for clicking on emails. I finally got enough to redeem for a Hyatt certificate and they are now out of stock of those, and Marriott.
