The MP Visa is a pretty good one and easy too. I would suppose there are other great ideas out there that people dont want to post for obivous reasons

IMHO United's DC promo where you could get *A ATW, although this promotion already started last year.

Feedback on the NW Double EQM offer

Here is a thread I started on the NW Forum about the Worldperks Double EQM promotion. Almost everyone (except those that didn't fly) liked it.

In that case, I nominate US Airways 7x EQM promotion ca. 2002 as the best promotion of all time.

it's a great idea and you can actually earn 10,000 points per walk for sponsoring 2 runners (virtual runners count too, so don't have to run)

Wow...that's a hefty thread. I will agree that this is a gray area and that the people in that 300-post thread have better info than I.

I enter lots of road races, fun runs, and charity walks every year, including some that give varying amounts to charity. In exchange for the entry fee, I usually get a goodie bag in addition to the entry in the event itself. Sometimes the goodie bag rocks (Cincinnati Flying Pig! ^) and sometimes it doesn't. I've never thought for a second of attempting to deduct any of these fees on my taxes for the simple reason that (a) I know most of these events barely clear a little bit of money for charity if they have great sponsors and a strong field, and (b) it just seems like too much of a gray area to attract IRS attention to line-items that have such a small value.

So, I probably wouldn't deduct $9 on my taxes for a City of Hope entry... But that's just me.

All in all, then, would it be fair to say that 2005 wasn't a banner year for deals and promos?

What about the $1.98 plus tax RT US Air tickets ???

I think that was a screaming deal. Especially if you had status on US / UA and earned extra miles along with the upgrades.

I'm surprised nobody has yet mentioned the CO award ticket special, EWR-PEK for 30k miles.

My personal best deal was the BA $560 WT+ airfares from SFO-LHR that was active back in September. This is a good price for the premium economy seats, and I originally purchased it as a cheap but relatively comfortable way to get to LHR. However, what really made this the killer deal was the triple miles promo BA came out with right afterwards for European residents. Thus, I "moved" to Europe. I then had to call up BA in europe to manually sign up for the promo, but had no problems with that and the bonus miles posted as promised.

Since I got three tickets, and BA allows household accounts, for the $1665 price I ended with:
3 WT+ tickets to LHR
AND
~120,000 miles, or more than enough for a business class ticket US-Europe, or 30,000 miles short of a first class ticket (which can easily be obtained with the credit card sign up bonuses, etc.).

Thanks Flyertalk!
