Red Carpet Club Passes

Looking for a little help here. Does the UAL Red Carpet club offer day passes ? Is so how much or does a ticket agent have access any passes. I am going to be traveling on UA in March. That is the only UA trip that I am planning. My membership expired at the end of 99 and I am not planning on renewing it. Thanks for the help on this one.

If you upgrade for the flight you can wave your FC ticket at the door and they should let you in.

Since when has a FC ticket (upgraded or not) been acceptable as admission to the RCC? Is this something new or just something that has been tried and may or may not work? Tino, what is your success rate with this?

Only an International Business or First ticket (paid, upgraded, or award) will get you in the door. Domestic tickets...sorry.

One time passes for the year 2000 are $50 and are purchased right at the Club on the day of your visit, and are good on that day only, at that Club only. They can not be purchased in advance.

don't be shy - if it is just for one entry, wait at the RCC door (probably not longer than 2-3 minutes) and ask a nice-looking next single-travelling-member to please bring you in. I bet you don't have to aks more than 2 people

PremEx is very correct.

I have seen two cases of fights at RCC Lounges (one at JFK, the other in SFO) of first class ticket holders, both domestic (unfortunately they were on my plane) wondering why they had to pay to use the club.

They were NOT RCC Card holders. One man stormed out. The other's wife told him to cough up the money because they were stuck on a cancelled flight and wanted to rest.

IF you fly an airline a lot and find yourself stuck at the airport I will say it again -- an airline club membership is a worthwhile investment. I thank bruddar wanderlust for showing me the keys to the CLUB!!!

Rudi: I too don't mind bringing someone into the RCC.

rjwxman: well if you find yourself at EWR or one of the NYC airports you are welcome to come into the RCC as my guest.

Omni to Rudi: LOL Reminds me of high school days where to "score" some beer we would wait outside the liquor store and ask someone to buy it for us. I think the 2 person rule worked then too.

I have let two people in. Once there was a fight with a fullfare paid FC person (Domestic) in ORD. I told the person, he is my guest.. and they said" You know you are responsible for him" I said, "yes thank you..."

They do not like when you do that, but I do not think it is worth the fight.... I have a membership (paid for by miles from business traveling..not my own pocket) .. so I do not mind sharing the priveledge.. If anyone is ever around, I am always able to let them in... especially to friendly cute gals..

LOL.. I also let another guy in when he was behind me in a flight that was canceled... we both went in the RCC (him as my guest) and we both got new flights...

I am not a RCC snob, just appreciate it and love sharing the priveledge

Thanks everyone for the tips and ideas. I think I will give Rudi's idea a try. I have belonged for several years, but since moving to Continental, never fly UA. I am using some reward tickets to head to spring training.
Catman: thanks for the invite. We will have to meet one day at the RCC or Continental's P Club. You can be my guest if you are not a member. Have a good one all and thanks again.

Question-- what if you are connecting OFF of Business on an international flight and TO a domestic First flight? Are you still allowed access to the RCC? I will be doing PVG-NRT-ORD-STL, and have a four hour connection time in ORD.

As long as you came in on a flight in which you were in C or F you will be allowed to use the RCC.

officially for UA-ff's on eco-connecting flights in N-America (even after an international-business segment) UA doesn't give access to RCC's (but chances are still very good against the official rules).

I will 'play' with StarAlliance rules and UA this coming Sunday.

in the morning we fly (upgraded) First from MEX to SFO and have access to UA's very nice First Class lounge In MEX - late in the evening (after our SFO get-together and the Beach Blanket Babylon show) we go on with UA SFO to Sydney in paid business but I will 'force' entrance to the international UA first class lounge in SFO having the printed StarAlliance-rules ready which allow international First Class same day passengers the First Class lounges for the whole trip of that day ... (only Canada-US trips are exempted form that rule, Mexico is valid )

Rudi,

You are one person I would not argue with if I was in the RCC or First Class Lounge. You give them chocolates and do not ask for much Seriously, I have learned alot from you and the others on here...

One thing that would be nice, give us a free Star Alliance Day pass (for any Star Alliance including your own). Just one, with our packages... then if someone is not a member they can check it out, if you are flying without your spouse, again she can use it,etc... US Airways offered them and it was nice.. I used one for my wife, and 2 for clients... they appreciate it and the airline may get new members,etc....

I'm sure this doesn't happen very often, or shouldn't anyway. In places like Denver and EWR, it almost can't since you're greeted before a ride up an escalator. In LAX, PDX, SEA and SFO I walked right in without showing my card and no one whispered a peep. Though I would never try to be dishonest about these things (really!) I do like to know what the limits are.

It started when I walked into SFO RCC and waited in line to show my card and no one looked up. I waited for several minutes, but they seemed preoccupied by something on their compurters. So I just walked in.

I'd let anyone in as a guest if they asked no probs. Just as long as they'd buy me a Sam Adams!
