Not sure if it's been discussed already....but I just received a promo for the new RBC Visa Signature Black card. No Annual Fee card that doesn't charge foreign transaction fees. No bonus points..but could be useful.

Take this survey at Aeroplan website.
Should take 2 minutes.
Earn 100 Aeroplan miles.
May take 6-8 weeks for miles to post.

Some will find this worthwhile. Some won't.

It should be treated as booking through a real travel agency. If the programs allow for night/stay credit from travel agents (which most if not all do), you'll be OK.

that's news to me. most programs do not honor bookings from third parties. otherwise we'd all be booking through hotwire and priceline

IIRC it's all about the qualifying rate, which no OTAs (focus on the O), offer.

Many (most?) 'real' travel agencies do offer qualifying rates, like Amex FHR.

Though there's definitely someone else who knows better on here!

True. Qualifying rates also earn the IATA agent a commission. So you're right, not all agents.

That's the difference between an OTA and a real travel agency.
