Though I do not have much love for the TN Poerava (Black Pearl) Business seats and their strange leg / foot rests, they beat the Moana Coach seats all to blazes, if I had the miles and could get the seat award, I'd do it (and have done it) in a heartbeat - particularly for any redeye segments.

(Our upcoming December trip is in Ro- er, Coach.)

You can code share on Air Tahiti Nui (TN) through points on either Delta or AA. We recently scored low level awards for this summer (in economy, not able to get biz) with DL SM.

I don't doubt this could be 100% true (if you flew Air France). But there are some good (albeit expensive options). I've heard the Four Seasons has a good option (but if you're not staying there, it can be difficult to get there). La Villa Mahana is very good, probably the best option for most in Bora Bora, available to all by shutting to Vaitape, but one has to book months in advance as they fill up quickly (<8 tables inside the restaurant and a very small bar outside). Of course it's expensive, but that's what you get on remote island getaways.

The latest news out of AS is that sometime in April you will be able to do one-way partner awards. This is good news considering AS and AF are partners and now you will have the flexibility to use 40K AS miles on AF along with 37.5K AA miles on either TN or HA for an economy RT. Better than burning 100K DL miles for the same trip.

HNL - PPT on Korean is 60,000 miles round trip in economy, not 30,000

It appears that the information given earlier that round trip from HNL to PPT using Korean airlines miles of 30,000 miles round trip is incorrect. The current award chart (checked as of 2/22/13) says that it is 60,000 miles roundtrip on Hawiian from Hawaii to the South Pacific (which includes Tahiti). Too bad as I was hoping the lower price listed was correct.

Yeah I notice that too even the part where it was a Air Tahiti Nui flight except Air Tahiti Nui does not fly to Hawaii. AA miles appears to be the cheapest way to go @ 75K, followed by AS @ 80K. Air France actually requires 60K miles but they tack on a $400 fuel charge.

I think with the Hilton devaluation, the bora bora trip just got a bit pricier. Was planning a trip for next march, but now need to evaluate whether the 80/95k points per night will be worth it. At least the 2 free weekend nights still is pretty nice.

Getting to Tahiti

I'm looking for some opinions out there on which route I should go getting 2 round trip tickets from LAX to Tahiti in Business class next Feb 2014. I have a ton of both MR and UR points as well as about 400K AA miles. I'd prefer to use the least amount of points/miles as possible (as everyone would) but would appreciate some suggestions on which programs you all recommend using to get there. I know Air France, Tahiti Air and Hawaiian fly there but am not sure about possibly using transfer partners for cheaper rewards (i.e. Korean Air, etc.)

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
