Anyone know about availability from NRT-PPT via TN? Might be hard as it looks like they only fly that route M and Sat. You can route TYO-HNL-PPT also but neither comes up on the BA/QF website.
now that looks creative!

Also bookable through Chase Ultimate Rewards but at higher point redemption. Have not booked one myself but it looks like it is definitely possible to fly to Bora Bora on miles and points.
Can you provide a link for this for me to research and add to the primer?

Everything I search goes to TN vs Air Tahiti ... that NUI seems to be the keyword issue

How did you book the interisland flight with UR points? Can you send me a link or something to add?

From Japan to PPT the best deal is using UA miles. Just 12.5k (Y) resp. 20k (C) o/w on NZ metal

It may be creative, but it's also impossible: you cannot use AS or TN flights on an Explorer award, as neither carrier is a oneworld member or affiliate.

All you do is go to the UR site and then click on "Book a Trip". That will take you to a screen where you can input your origination, destination and date. Air Tahiti should then come up with the number of points required.

IMO, not a really great use of UR points . . .

I've never dealt with UR or TY points .... what is considered a good valuation for them?

At 1:1 with most airlines, I guess that puts them around .02/point?

Some argue even higher due to:

-ability to use these to top off and account and close the gap to an award

-ability to transfer them to accounts of others

Depends on how you earn and how you spend them. We earn through both CC and banking. My wife and I use our ThankYou points to buy airfare only. You can't transfer them to airlines but they are good for discounted or free airfare (depends on where you are going and how you want to fly). If you have a Citi Premier card your points are valued at 33% more so a trip that cost $399 will cost you 30K points (30000x1.33=39900). You can also do partial redemptions. You can only booked through the ThankYou website which I believe is powered by Expedia.

Thanks for that. It does complicate that a little as it looks like there is only a PDX-DFW flight to get out of PDX on a 1W AA EXP ticket.

Coming is not a prob as I could route it through SCL-DFW-PDX but going I would have to hop up to YVR which is only 4500 avios one way on a DashTrash coffin.

I could route it through SYD so YVR-TYO-SYD-(AKL?)-SCL-MDZ-SCL-DFW-PDX which is about 23k miles only about 1k more than the TYO-PPT-IPC route.

I could go TYO-HNL via JL then head south HNL-PPT on HA and then I could use LA from PPT-IPC. So

YVR-TYO-HNL---PPT-IPC-SCL-MDZ-SCL-LAX-PDX.

The question is is it worth 27.5k HA miles to sit coach HNL-PPT probably not, but if I really wanted to go to PPT.

Just so you know, the food situation is pretty dreadful in FP.
Everything is ridiculously overpriced and not that fresh, due to the location, and lack of arable land.
