I'm currently NZ*G and looking for status matches. I tried emailing Flying Blue based on their recent promotion but got nowhere.
Not so concerned about SkyTeam (though it would be handy for China Southern and soon Garuda) - the thing I'm really looking for is a status match with OW so I can access Qantas lounges when I fly with them.
I've read through this thread but can't find any simple matches. Has anyone had any luck matching NZ*G (or equivalent) with an OW airline?

Looking for advice. I am a UA 1K. My new weekly route is FAT (home) to SEA (work)round trip for about the next 6 to 12 months. United routing is not as convenient or cost effective as Alaska Air. I researched Alaska's code share partners and I found American and Delta both code share with Alaska. I want to apply for a Status match on either Alaska, AA, or Delta, is there one that would be better to do than any other? Will the AA and US Air affect anything? What would you do?

Thanks for the advice above. I've tried airberlin and LAN. Heard back today from airberlin that they don't match NZ* and asked if I had Qantas or Cathay status.
Will hope for a more positive response from LAN.

No idea. Text of email below:
Thank you for your e-mail.
Unfortunately we don't offer a status match for New Zealand frequent traveller cards.
Maybe you have another status card with Qantas or Cathay Pacific?
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

AB is the airline company in OW. AB Top Bonus is its FFP but it's no longer fully owned by AB. It was sold out to get cash.
"Topbonus is being sold to a separate legal entity named Topbonus Ltd. with its head office in Berlin. It will continue to operate the frequent flyer program on the basis of a commercial agreement with Air Berlin.
Upon close of the transaction, Etihad will own majority stake in the entity, with 70 percent hold, while remaining 30 percent will be owned by Air Berlin."
So, in a certain sense Ethiad told they don't match NZ* but perhaps Qantas or Cathay could be considered.

AirBerlin told me they'd match my FlyingBlue Gold, but I wonder why I should even bother, as I fly mostly in the US, and it won't upgrade any of my American flights... and if I fly American internationally, it won't upgrade me either... so what is the benefit????
