Same on AF and KL, since a few weeks I can select Asante as my loyalty program but when I enter my account it says 'invalid'

Has anyone had success in applying Asante status on other Skyteam airlines? Does it work on the likes of Xiamen or Garuda or even AFKL?

Used it on some KL flights in the last couple of weeks. Had to apply my Asante number via the Garuda site as my FB number was already in the booking so couldn't be updated. It got me free seat selection. When on my second flight, the cabin crew did ask which airline my status was from, it was showing elite plus in their passenger list but without an airline mentioned!

How long did the match take, and was it still the process noted here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/turk...ch-2012-a.html ?

Sign up to Miles & Smiles (unless you already have an account)
Send an email to customermiles[at]thy.com requesting a match and include a PDF of your latest account statement and a picture of your card.

Have a trip coming up in 3 weeks and was going to match BA Gold to TK Elite.

Pretty fast, mine took within 2-3 working days. If you really want to min/max it, can do about 1 week prior.

Perfect, thanks. Turns out I have an old TK account so resurrected that. Only issue is it's missing my middle name so won't match the flight booking I have. Maybe they can sort that out too.

used it on Xiamen recently.
Was a bit sketchy at check in but walked straight into lounge on both segments

FYI NEVER connect in Xiamen internationally. You have to go through immigration and can't go back airside until 2 hrs before flight. It's a nightmare

They really are insisting on a photo of a memebrship card ... when I'm just using a digital card :(

3 times back and forth, shown them my app / login page / photo of recent boarding passes with status and no go :(

Just received a targetted email for a stats match for Flying Blue. However they want me to pay a €199 transaction fee; tiered depending on whether matching to Silver, Gold or Platinum (I am gold).

Thanks for pointing this out. It doesn't seem to be targeted.
More info here:

Air France KLM Flying Blue is offering status matches up to Platinum, the level required to redeem points for first class awards on Air France. They’ll even match United Platinum and American Platinum Pro members to Flying Blue Platinum.

There are two caveats.
  • This is a paid status match opportunity, with Silver costing €79; Gold €199; Platinum €399.
  • This is targeted at U.K. residents, “The Status Match offer is only open to UK passport or driver’s license holders. You may be required to provide evidence upon application.”

I think what people (including bloggers) mean by "targeted" is that its only available to UK residents who can prove it via passport or drivers license. Thus it's not even remotely open to all. That is the literal definition of "targeted."

It's curious that an offer targeted at UK residents is priced in Euros rather than Pounds.

As is the fact that UK passport doesn't prove residency (driving license does have address on it).

What if you have a UK passport but does not have a UK driving licence? A recent bank statement/utility bill would be a better way to prove UK residency tbh.

Airline Status Match Via Dual Citizenship

I am eligible for a U.K. passport through my dear, departed Mum, but never applied because since 1975 I have been an on-and-off employee of the U.S. government, which looks askance at dual citizenship by its employees. However, now that I am a Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS) annuitant, the only thing holding me back is finding a U.K. citizen to attest to my good moral character. I do not know any British Subjects here in the CNMI, and "family members" are excluded, which presumably precludes my Australian second cousins.

If anyone is familiar with some of my FlyerTalk posts over the past two decades, and is willing to attest to my character, please send me a Direct Message (DM), so we can discuss further by e-mail.

Check the tax rules before applying for a British passport. I don't think the UK has the same taxation system in the US. The US tax system is pretty insane that US citizens/long term green card holders are subject to US taxation even though they don't live in the US.
