Doesn't seem as though there are any good status matches out there at the moment. Emirates seems to be best free one, and Cathay Pacific is easy but the others have limitations or things that you need to achieve. Cathay Pacific would probably want you to have a flight booked with them. With Emirates you just have to like their bling.

Do you know, if Cathay gives status match to members of FFPs of other Oneworld carriers? I'm BAEC silver and have tried with AB and QR but both refused (due to the fact that BA is also OW airline).

Yes, I matched over from UA Gold to CX Silver. Easy to do, just send your future travel, current status, and previous flights. CX Silver is their OWR which isn't a whole lot but they do offer lounge access when flying on CX. I've only heard of one person getting CX Gold and that was @G-CIVC.

For Europeans you can take their fifth freedom flight FRA-MAD to participate.

That was what I was thinking of, I did the opposite direction once to sample their product but that some 15 months ago. Might just do it again : - )

I paid 118 euros o/w in J, which is very reasonable for a 2 hour flight in Europe where flat bed seats (if needed at all :-) are scarce

Okay maybe not flat bed seats for intra-Europe travel but at least proper seats like TK and SU have.

I am doing LATAM status match and they request the following:

"Último estado de cuenta de pasajero frecuente, donde se detallen los vuelos realizados. (En el caso de American Airlines, solicitamos también el penúltimo estado de cuenta)"

Do they ask for my FF# card?

They are asking for your latest account statement where you can see your flight activity. With American they ask for your previous statement as well.

I would send pic of FF card.

Finnair is offering a status match (and status challenge) for airberlin and M&M elites:

https://www.finnair.com/fi/gb/finnair-plus-tier-match

However, the terms are not nearly as good as with the Malev Duna Club match:
  • topbonus silver and M&M FTL get AY+ Silver (OW Ruby)
  • topbonus gold and platinum, M&M Sen and Hon get AY+ Silver and AY+ Gold (OW Sapphire) challenge
    • 6 months to achieve half of regular AY+ Gold requirements (40000 points or 23 flights)

It doesn't hurt though that it's lie flat, as, since it's firth freedom, it arrives from SoAM. Used it both ways last year and it was very good.
