4 Cards in my wallet
1. SPG AMEX Business for all domestic business expenses and for all Starwood charges.
2. Chase Sapphire Preferred for all business dining and travel, including auto rental. Also for all foreign business expenses.
3. Aadvantage Citi Executive Mastercard for Admirals Club and all foreign personal expenses and shopping.
4. SPG AMEX for all domestic personal shopping and spending.
Occasionally, number 3 and 4 are temporarily exchanged for initial spend to get bonus miles, e.g. Bank of Hawaii Hawaiian Airlines $1000 spend, etc. or when one or another card gives special offer for retention. I've gotten rid of my Diners Club card since BMO took over.

Done all the churns so my keepers:
#1 Card-- BofA Virgin Altantic- Most of my spending: Worth the $90 fee for 1.5 miles per any dollar and minimum 1K miles for any Hertz or Avis rental. AmEx so good at Costco where I shop a lot. Miles good for CO and US tickets and other partners.
#2 Card-- Chase Amtrak- No fee ever and miles transferable to CO (UA?) For where the Virgin AmEx isn't accepted.
Normally Sock Drawers keepers:
Barclays US Air- 10K miles for $90 annual fee, 5K reduced rewards, preferred boarding, etc. In sock drawer until Grand Slam and US flights.
Chase Priority Club- $49 fee gets free room cert.
The US and Virgin are churnable so no telling which generation of them I'll have or whether I'll actually have to pony up an annual fee for US. The Chases are mostly to keep my Chase credit line.
Cars and Costco go on Virgin. Probably will use it more than the AmTrak for daily spend too, but AmEx doesn't get accepted everywhere.

Long term.
- Amex Platinum ($200 credit and lounge access)
- Amex SPG
I'm going to apply for a Delta Reserve card and aim for $60K spend to get the MQMs. I anticipate this will be my primary spend card for 2012.

-Chase freedom - good 5% rewards categories, points can be folded into Sapphire Preferred for UR travel redemption.
I told Amex that they should do the same with their blue card line.. would love to xfer my 37k blue sky miles to an SPG card
-Discover - Free cash advances at registers of participating stores rules... 5% bonus up to 1500 per quarter in spending
Hoping to get sapphire preferred, citi AAs x 2, marriott and SPG(if I get a low spending requirement). Otherwise it will be any card offers that have no spending requirements. Will feel guilty canceling some of these before their annual fee hits

Travelocity Amex - the old version with 4% back on all purchases. I'm always amazed how infrequently this card makes the list in these types of threads.

Just researched it and it is still a solid card, no doubt, but most here are mentioning cards widely available to the masses while your card is not. Thus, making it of little use to us. I applaud your patience in sticking it out with the card (or luck if you've never had an issue). If you've had that card this long, I take it that you won't cancel unless they really stick it to you since you have the general spend advantage versus the new account.
The "new" program appears to be similar to what was offered for new accounts when I left although I'm not 100% sure. This still makes it great if one books their travel through Travelocity but the other spend categories are nothing special. Customer service would still be a deal breaker for me since I don't book much through Travelocity.

:
1) Amex Blue Preferred for all groceries.
2) Amex Premier Rewards Gold for the 3x points on airlines and I will also make this my gas card at 2x.
3) Chase Sapphire Preferred. We all love this card. I will use for the 2x on travel and dining. The nice thing about the travel is it's not just flights but cabs, rental cars, even NY subway tickets! Many ways to keep the 2x rolling on this one and the transfer options are unbeatable
4) Amex Platinum.
5) Starwood Preferred Guest Amex.
6) Other specialty cards: no point shopping at Target without their own 5% cash-back, same for Banana Republic, TJ Maxx and some others.

Use the AMEX Blue Cash Preferred to buy gas station gift card at the grocery store will get you 6% cashback, like your regular groceries purchases.
For flights, book with Sapphire Preferred through Ultimate Rewards, currently 4% ( Travelocity and Hotwire)

I can't speak for others but, for me, that card lost most of its appeal due to the shenanigans from Travelocity/Barclay's when the transition was made. Barclay's customer service is piss poor and I dislike having to beg for/demand the points to which I'm entitled.

The current offer isn't as good as the old one but it is still pretty good. If you choose restaurant as your category then you basically get 4% back on dining. That rivals the Sapphire in that category in my book. Also, you're basically getting 2% back on everything else except Travelocity spend which is 10%.

Current cards:
Chase PC Club Visa - no foreign transaction fees. 5 points per dollar spent @ IHG property. 10% rebate on reward redemptions. Point Break hotels (5k/night). $49/annual transaction fee but 1 reward night/year to offset those costs.
Chase Continental OnePass Mastercard
Citi Amex AA
Citi Visa AA
Fidelity 2%
2012 predictions.
PC Club Visa - Keep. Use on IHG properties. The perks make me feel I will renew this card.
CO OnePass
Citi Amex AA
Citi Visa AA
Cancel all 3 unless they offer 0$ annual fee for the 2nd year of card ownership. Until then I am using CO OnePass and AA Amex cards for my everyday spending.
Fidelity 2% cash back - keep for my fallback go to card.
I look at picking up some cards in 2012
SPG Starwood Card 30k
Citi TYP 50k
Marriot 70k + 1 night
Hyatt 2 nights free
Chase Sapphire 100k
Unless something awesome happens and a new card comes out worth owning, those are my 4 goals for 2k12.

Keep:
SPG Business Amex - though I need to start using the points instead of hoarding them
SPG Personal Amex - This isn't my card, I made my husband get this card. He runs our monthly personal expenses through it.
On the fence:
AA Business Visa - I need a non-Amex for the business, but haven't decided if I should keep this one or what it's replacement might be.
Capital One Venture Visa - I definitely like the no forex fee and like the ease of redeeming and the 2x points. This card also has the highest CL of all my cards. But I don't know how much international travel we will have this year to make it worth me paying the fee to keep this card or for us to just use my husband's fee-free CapOne card. Maybe I'll look into a business version of this card.
Good Bye:
AA Citi AmEx - really don't need this card anymore since MM is gone. I tried to cancel once, was given the "we'll credit your annual fee" but I think I will cancel anyways. My husband also has this card but I will have him keep it because his credit score needs the rehab from having the credit lines open.
AA Elite MC - I signed up wanting to keep the MM going, but the JFK Admiral's club left us underwhelmed and not worth the $450 price tag at this time for me. Maybe in the future if they offer the MM opportunity again and I'm in a spend mania through the business at that time.
Sock-drawer (though I keep them in my wallet anyways):
AmEx Blue Cash - this used to be my go-to card until they reduced the cash back to 1.25%. That's when I got into the miles game.
Macys AmEx - I don't really shop here much anymore like I used, but there's no fee so who cares.
BOA MC - this was one of my first CCs, it has no fee, I just use it every few months to keep it alive.
For 2012:
- Get added to husband's Discover card so I can help him get the 5% category bonuses from our non-business spend
- Jump on whatever other ridiculous offers may come my way. Last year's best offer for me was 100K Capital One card, followed by the 100K AA cards from the 2010 links. I'm still a little mad that my husband didn't listen to me and upgrade his Capital One card to get in on that offer. He has since learned.
