I got the OnePass in September and 50,000 first use bonus.
Then canceled Onepass in February and signed up for the UA Explorer 50,000 offer.
They only gave me 25,000 signup + 5,000 extra cardmember, so I called (twice). They said they would check on it.

Three weeks later I got the other 20,000.

Not sure if I will attempt to make the spend for another 10,000 or not.

This is very frustrating, as it obviously takes her out of the picture in terms of credit card sign-up bonuses. Another federal "protection" we don't want.....

Since NY is a community property state. I would interpret that to mean your income is her income therefore that is what I would put on the application for her income. I am not a lawyer or an accountant so if my interpretation of the question is wrong and Chase actually called me on it for some strange reason, well, it would be an honest mistake.;)

I wish - unfortunately NY is not a community property state (it's an "equitible distribution state" :(), and Chase asked for earned income tied to her social security number, for which of course there is none. I offered to co-sign or guarantee the card but the representative said that I couldn't and that the aplication had to be based on her income (and credit history, etc) only  In addition to income the application asks for occupation, and I don't want to outright lie. Has anyone else had success in getting approval for nonworking spouse since the law change in October?

I had a quick question. Does anyone know if booking your UA flight through a third party travel website (orbitz, Priceline etc) will still give you the benefits of the card i.e. free checked bag, double points for the $$ amount that this flight costs?

hoping to pull the trigger and get this offer (60k with 50$ statement credit) sometime this week..I cancelled my onepass contin card in feb(signed up last april) and haven't had a chase app since late dec...last approved cc was US air in March...for some reason the chase site seems down

I opened a CO card 4th quarter last year and used the points. CO card was still open and applied for the United card late last month. It provided me a response on my application as under review. I called the chase reconsideration line and the card was initially denied, b/c I had signed up for another Chase card in January. I gave them compelling reasons for reconsidering and I was approved. They moved the credit line from CO to United card and closed my CO card. I received the card in the mail and called to activate. Without any prompt, the activation person at Chase told me of my benefits, which include 50k on first purchase, 10k if spend 25k in one year, 5k for adding authorized user, and 50 statement credit. I made my purchase the next day and am awaiting to see if my 50k miles post. So, assuming that the miles post, the CO credit card did not disqualify me for the bonus miles on the United card. Fingers crossed until posting of miles in my account.

In my experience, if you have the card, your MP account is flagged as such and you get all the benefits of the card regardless of how you paid. That was before the merger though, not sure if that is still the case.

EDIT: This doesn't apply for the double miles obviously, as that is directly tied to the miles earned by paying with the card.

I have the old CO PP card (haven't received the new United branded card yet), but I can confirm that after the merger, I was still able to get two free checked bags, etc regardless of method of payment. I made the mistake of charging to my AMEX when I meant to use the CO PP card, and worried that I would have to pay for checked bags, but at the airport, no issues.

Thank you for the responses! That is good to know. For example if I use my UA card to purchase a United ticket through Priceline you said I will get the free checked bag, do you know if I will get the double miles? Thanks!

I'm in a similar situation....have had the CO Mastercard since last June. I want to apply for the new Explorer Visa to get the 50K bonus. Secure emails with Chase has confirmed that I qualify for the enrollment bonus. I'm sure it will require a call to the reconsideration line as I've obtained 3 Chase cards in the last year. Most recent was a Marriott in Nov.

Interested in hearing some "compelling" reasons that I can give them for wanting to get the new Explorer Visa and cancel my existing CO Mastercard. No problem for me to move the credit line from the CO to Explorer,

First statement just closed and it doesn't show the 50K or the $50. The statement did close very quickly after I'd first used the card though (maybe even the same day?) but my first transaction ($48) did post on it. The statement just shows 48 miles earned.

I did have the CO card before (from Feb to Dec last year, when I cancelled it) so I assumed I'd be good for this offer. I activated the card using the automated phone system so didn't speak to anyone about the offer.

I've just SMed Chase to ask what's up.

You should be fine. They have quirks like that when the statement closes so close to the purchase date. I've run into it a couple of times. If they don't do a manual push for you, the bonus will drop in for you on the next statement closing. Its just a patience test some times because the way their computers work.

Thanks for the reassurance. Mrs User Name and I must have had at least 15 Chase cards between us over the last couple of years and this is the first time a bonus hasn't hit on the first statement. I'll wait for next month.

Correct. Only 9 of the 50 U.S. states are "community property" states; see map: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Co...rty_states.svg

I'm pretty sure I read in the T&Cs that you have to buy the tickets on united.com to get the double miles.
