I ended up just leaving the Tax ID# box blank, entered my SSN# on the personal info page and......Instant Approval.

Now to try for the 6499 75K Bonus.

What am I doing wrong? I asked of the 6499 code to be applied and was told they can't do it. In what words are you all asking for this bonus to be applied?

Should I wait until I activate the card and meet the $1K spend before I request the bonus again?

Thanks for sharing the good news. When you talk with the rep, did you directly ask them to apply the Bonus ID code to your card?

My wife just did the same - TAX ID# blank and received instant approval. Now she is going to chase for the 6608 100K bonus. I think I will sit this one out and try to get the Platinum bonus bump.

Found out I have now been approved. Is the best practice to spend 1k on the card then call and ask for the bump? or call right away?

After submitting the application I got the dreaded "Application received" message. I was about to exit, when I saw a button for "Skip this step" to add employee cards. Voila, on the next page it said "Congratulations! You are approved!

I know the $125 is waived first year, but does this card offer anything special for that like lounge access?

Ok, trying to catch up here. If someone could confirm whether I'm understanding the latest consensus correctly, I'd appreciate it.

I applied for the 50K Platinum Amex MR a few months ago. Successfully got that bumped to 100K. Now I want to apply for this Gold Amex MR and request the 75K offer. My understanding is that the best suggested method is, absent a targeted RSVP code (which I don't have), to apply for the standard 25K offer, then spend $2K, THEN call and request to be bumped to the 75K offer (code 6499). Is this accurate, or is there something better I can do (better offer code to request, order of procedure, etc.)? Also, what link shall I use for the 25K offer.. any, or is there one that's better than others? Thanks in advance.

That is what I did for myself and my wife. Note that 6499 is for $1000 spend, 6497 is for $2000 spend. The first CSR applied a note to both of our accounts and said to expect all points in 8 weeks from statement containing the $1000 spend. You can also try with a secure message, it was just easier for me with two accounts to do it over the phone. If you get push-back, just try a new CSR.

I got the pr gold 2 months back and business gold just 3 weeks back, I am tempted to apply for the plat 100k. I read this thread and saw someone say they will not match bonuses beyond 150k? And a financial review? My credit score is 790, nothing wrong with the history except 6 new cards in the last 6 months.

So here's the question - I know I am getting greedy but is there a chance I will get the plat now? I don't want to miss the 100k bonus.

I am getting a little confused. These 75k bonuses, either 6497 or 6499, are these for the personal or business Gold cards? And are they the normal Gold with $125 fee or PR Gold with $175 fee?

No, but it sounds like you received details of a targeted offer. Do you want to tell us what the details were? I may be behind here but this is the first time I have heard of a 100k promotion for either gold card.
