Wait 90 days and apply for the business again.

Forget the personal cards for now, unless something changes in the way Citi is handling them, you are probably done being able to get another one of those for 12 months or so.

Yup, like everybody. No reports yet of anyone who has been approved not getting the bonus.

A majority of people report they work fine. But as the offer's become more outdated, it appears they are becoming more unstable. Kind of like expired milk, older it is the bigger risk you're taking.

But they are still working for most people.

I'm adding the within 90 days rule to that line.

I got the option to chat with a rep for a decision, and I still ended up not getting a decision. The rep says that it needs to go another department for review, and I should have a decision in the next 7-10 days (I'm not a first-time cardholder).

UPDATE: My amex is still pending further review. My visa has been declined. Getting to step 5 is no guarantee of getting the card, I guess. I hope I can get the amex. Maybe they'll see that I spend a lot of my American Express Gold card, and will approve this one for me. Well, one can hope.

UPDATE2: Called on amex. The rep processed as far as she could get to, but no decision (probably her polite way of saying that it's rejected). Called the status line and found out that it's a no-go. Oh well, it was worth a shot.
what are the reasons of denial for the first time and second time? If they are first time only, can you share the timeline when yyou last opened your AA cards? Thanks!

when I called yesterday to get the Amex offer the agent first offered me the Visa card with the same conditions and terms. I felt bad that she had to read the whole script twice after I told her I wanted the Amex instead. So the 75K for $1.5K spend is very much alive in their system and was offered without me having to ask.

So I wouldn't worry too much. I suppose if you are really concerned about using the link and applying online you could call to get one card and then call back right away to get the other? Then you wouldn't have uncertainty at all if you are really worried about the offer.

Received and activated both cards today...

Amex = 75k miles after $4,000 spent in 6 mos.
Visa = 75k miles after $1,500 spent in 6 mos.

No idea how that happened, but the CSR's did repeat themselves on both.

I applied for both personal on day 1 and the business on day 91+ (probably closer to day 100)...all approved.

Got turned down for Citi Biz for ancient Citi chargeoff (personal) almost 30 years ago. Didn't know they blacklisted for that long.

No problem getting 2 personal Citi AA cards with perfect pay history. (same for my credit reports). FICO's 750-800, same employer 18 yrs.

150K is better than none. First credit decline in years.

Hi all,
I'm getting ready for a world trip later this year and these Air miles will come in handy for me. I already applied and received the AA Citi AmEx card with the 75k bonus at $1,500 spend offer but before I get the AA Citi Visa, can anyone tell me if the miles can be combined together from two different AA Citi cards? If so, how? Thanks.

They can be combined, but you will almost certainly be denied for the Visa as an existing Aadvantage card holder. As stated in the second post of this thread, if you want two cards, you need to apply for them at the same time.

I think the workaround besides getting a business license or fake stationary or bill is:
1. Claim "sole proprietor for business name and use personal ID number"
2. Send in a utility bill with you're name on it

It hasn't been confirmed yet the workaround works.....but worth a try.

And, I'm sure AA is watching this thread as when I spoke to a CSR he was very familiar with FT!

I called them this morning and they want me to fax a copy of my business license for my non-existent company. Has anyone else had to deal with this? The only reason I applied was because the first post said you really didn't need a business to get it. I'm thinking about plunking down the $50 for a business license just so I can get the other 75k miles.

Odd AAdvantage account activity

I recently made an AA award reservation spending some of my 100K credit card bonus miles. They took out 30,000 miles x 2 (60000 total). I checked my AA account and it had the following actvity listed for Feb:

View My Miles
Date Transaction Description* Mileage Bonus Total
Starting Balance 81,627
30000 FROM MLS DEF THRU 08/22/12 0 0 0
30000 FROM MLS DEF THRU 08/22/12 0 0 0
02/22/11 MYSTERY MILES PROMOTION 0 100 100
02/07/11 CITIBANK SIGNATURE CARD PURCH 2,424 0 2,424

Total Miles Posted 2,424 100 2,524

02/16/11 TP30A NA-EUR ECON OW TKT -30,000 0 -30,000
02/16/11 TP30A NA-EUR ECON OW TKT -30,000 0 -30,000
Total Miles Claimed -60,000 0 -60,000
ENDING BALANCE 24,151

What does the two 30000 FROM MLS DEF 08/12/12 listed under the posting section mean? Any body know? What does 'DEF 08/12/12 mean'?

Thanks, Jkpine

I don't know exactly what it stands for but I believe it means that the miles it was take from expire on 8/12/12.

basically they 'renew' your mileage expiration date because you made an award claim to that date.

i had the same thing on mine when i redeemed award tickets. but since you have a credit card, your mileage expiration date will keep getting extended, so you really dont need to worry about those lines.

MILES DEF i believe stands for "miles deferred" to 8/12/12

I was approved for the Visa & Amex. A couple weeks later I had my wife apply. She applied for the Visa on-line and then called to apply for the Amex. I don't know if she screwed up or if the rep helping her on the phone did but she ended up receiving two Visa cards. Two different account numbers.
