YQ started qs fuel surcharge.. but in today's scenario has almost nothing to do with actual cost of the fuel.

The overall airfare may of course rise due to long detours (closed airspaces) and increasing fuel prices

thats where I was headed too . With fuel prices increasing by the day , it makes sense for airlines to marry the YQ to fuel prices but now that accruing miles through FF program is much easier , FD may not be an attractive option for many .

The above trick WWE mentioned can easily be flown using FF miles than paying ~$700

@ChanduFD , Today 3:52 pm

You are unbelievable. I was just about to post that but You got it first. Well done.

I am pretty sure we BOTH talking about the same OneWorld Non FD Intercontinental Business Class $ 687.50 after a series of tricks.

ChanduFD Mar 9, 2022 7:26 pm

I don't know how to process this but I will take it.

Coming back to the deal you are talking about and the method , I believe there is much better way to do it provided you have the RIGHT tools. I usually don't like spending more than $200( Yes I'm frugal ) for any non FD flights . with a ton of FF miles amassed over last 6 months , $200 out of pocket is quite expensive too . lol

Take a note of the changes happening outside FD world and you can treat yourself to a nice gateway in C2 or C6 at very lil cost.
