Got a res on Orbitz

I got a reservation from SFO to AKL on Orbitz and a confirmation email. No ticket numbers though. I assume they will try to bail on this but at least I've got a booking with seat assignments in J and a message when purchasing that upon hitting the magic button my card will be charged! I guess we shall see. Would be a nice holiday break in NZ!

I've been trying on orbitz and the fare shows on the initial screen but when you try to "select" it reprices to about $9000 per ticket

1) Does this fare give lounge access, and are there lounges to access at SFO and SYD?

2) If you were forced to take a Y leg SYD-AKL, is there a possibility of correcting that later if a C seat becomes available?

3) I gather that UA will status-match my NW Plat with their 1P level. My flights are not until the end of the year. Is there any advantage to waiting until later in the year for a status match? Is there an advantage to doing it right away?

4) The Air New Zealand flights were not assigned seats. Is there a way of obtaining them ahead of time?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer, and many, many thanks to the OP for posting this fare. I finally get to see New Zealand!
1) Yes, you have lounge access to all Business designated *A lounges, and there are some in both SFO and SYD. In general, RCCs are nothing to write home about.

4) Call Air NZ (of course, not while fare is still alive). You should have no problem getting seats.

Can't help with firm information for 2) and 3). But let me ask you, why would you want a match to 1P? You may be better of just creditting miles to bmi.

Craig,

Unfortunately there is no way to do what you want without calling and having the PNR split.

That is another downfall of the BOMB.... cannot do that online.

Fortunately, I am only travelling with my partner... and I love him... so was willing to spend 60K miles to upgrade him....

All online with no UA involvement.... priceless!!!

I want to upgrade my ticket using miles, but when I go into .bomb it only gives me the option if upgrading all three people on my PNR. I love my friends, but not enough to use an extra 120K in miles!

Anyone have an idea how I can just upgrade one of the three people on the PNR without calling?

Comments anyone?

Thanks,

Craig6z

No - but the website can screw up the upgrade options sometimes. If the website won't do it, wait until the dust settles and then call in a request.

Reno to AKL is still working on Orbitz.com

SMF to AKL works nicely too.
