Find C availability on QF from EF first and then try to price it out.

Keep in mind you have to find married segment availability as well, just HND-SYD won't cut it. You'd have to enter TYO-CGK in EF, connection in SYD, Carrier limited to QF, and search only class C.

Out of curiosity I looked at the entire month of February and it's only available the 26th and that's only 1 seat. All of March, only the 23rd and 26th. This is now a pretty elusive fare unless you can plan WAY out in advance. QF sometimes only wants to sell J fares on Japan routes, it's not uncommon to see C0 on HND-SYD as well, but a solid way to nip this fare in the bud is to zero out most married segment availability, I don't think that happened by accident, and not hard to do as no one normally would fly HND-SYD-CGK without stopovers in SYD. They'd be making nearly nothing on these AA fares, but filling up those 28 seats on the A330 as opposed to a much more expensive HND-SYD or v.v. ticket.

how far out into 2023 is this fare good for? Looking at slate summer/early fall 2023 and I have found dates with R availability on AA (JFK-TYO) and C on QF (TYO-CGK) but the matrix errors out when I do my search.

also, sorry if that has been answered but just want to confirm, stopover in LAX or USA is not possible, correct?

I believe it's good through end Nov 2023:

SEASONALITY PERMITTED 01JAN THROUGH 15MAY OR 01AUG THROUGH 30NOV
ON THE OUTBOUND TRANSPACIFIC SECTOR. SEASON IS BASED
ON DATE OF ORIGIN.

QF C married segment availability seems plentiful on the outbound, but I have struggled to find anything on the inbound CGK-SYD-HND around October.

I booked the ticket about two weeks ago for travel next May. I was getting my itamatrix segments wrong but managed to find decent availability in May for the trip duration I wanted. There were longer stopovers available.

Sorry, just reread your post and saw you booked in May.

I have tried a bunch of different dates, but it looks like this is now over $5000. Anyone seeing any different?

Had a quick look at the start of June and can price it out at $3,277. Includes Sydney on the return leg.

I get values that are about $3000 showing various options, but when I click through to purchase the fare says it is gone up.

You selected the wrong carrier. Pick AA codes for the TPAC flights.

Booked a JFK-NRT- stop over- CGK round trip for $2,200 through AMEX IAP on JAL codes.

Try forcing an airport change. AA has a daily SNA-JFK. I'm not 100% sure that's an LAX co-terminal but I think it is.

If I only carry on bags would I be able to stay airside in CGK and check-in for AA8498/JL726 at the gate? Or is there a complication (passport check, CDC document for US entry, AA codeshare, etc) that would force me to enter Indonesia to check in at the desk? I'd like to avoid purchasing an entry visa as well as lots of downtime at check-in waiting for the desk to open.
I was able to make the transfer airside without entering Indonesia at CGK, but it was a very slow and painful process. JL wouldn't provide a digital or print-at-home boarding pass for my CGK-NRT flight, I believe this was because they needed to do a CDC attestation doc check. Airport staff let me know the international transfer desk in Terminal 3 is completely closed after waiting there for an hour for someone to show up. Eventually an airport manager came by to help. They took my passport and vaccination documentation, walked it to the JL check-in desk, got my boarding pass from that check-in desk and brought it back to me and then escorted me to the departure gate through another security check. He actually did quite a bit of work and deserved a tip. In the end it worked out but it was a huge pain and I had to wait in the arrivals hall (nothing at all there except a bathroom and security officers) until the JL check-in desk opened (3 hours before departure). All this to save the $35 visa fee, I'm not sure it was worth it.

I want to say thank you to Quail for booking this itinerary on *A for me. Thank you for your patience and attention to detail.
My routing EWR-ORD-NRT-SIN-ICN-CGK-ICN-SIN-HND-LAX-EWR
I had to remove original photo and link, because I have less than 5 posts. Long time lurker here.

I am considering booking this fare - may I ask how you obtained the stopover when booking through IAP? I am assuming you call into JAL after booking to adjust and pay the stopover fee. Also, do you know what fare class these book into? I am trying to determine LP accrual (doing this as a status run). Thanks!
