Due to the corona virus cases in China, we have made changes to our cancellation and change policies for our flights to and from China during 25 January to 23 February 2020. We continue normal operations to and from China, but if you have a Finnair ticket issued before 25 January 2020 to or from China for travel between 25 January and 23 February, 2020 you can, if you so wish:
  • postpone your travel until 31 May 2020 or
  • cancel the booking and apply for a refund in Manage booking
For postponing your travel, please contact our customer service or your travel agency. We are at your service also on Twitter @FinnAirHelps, in our Facebook pages and via chat on finnair.com.

World Health Organisation has issued instruction precautionary measures for travellers here, stressing the importance of usual precautions, including frequent hand-washing.

We are following the situation closely and will update any new information on this page. We are sorry for the harm this situation may cause you.

You can check your passenger rights here.

I just called asking about the cancellation/postponement/re routing ( I'm hoping to do SIN or a very long shot of MNL) they didn't know anything about it.....so it might be worth waiting a day. I was told it's only for flights to Wuhan and current policy is would only be a refund or postponement.......guy on the phone was very friendly though, said to call if there was anything else and the situation is changing rapidly

We can't all travel on the 31 May so there must be more to come and I'd guess sooner rather than later.

as someone currently in PVG, can they just let me go earlier? push it forward? only pushing it for later is not exactly humane to Chinese customers XD

UPDATE: Just called, AY is nice enough to change my flight to tomorrow, also rerouting me from PVG so that is fantastic news. Kudos to AY for being one of the few airlines that is good enough for letting passengers do that.
What made this even better is that the new tix seems to be on J instead of I, so earning is tremendously improved on many programs.

I have a base in PVG/SHA. This move saved me a positioning flight SHA-CAN, as the government has allowed anyone to get full refund from any domestic flight for free since the outbreak.
Also, that makes it much safer. CAN and SZX has been heavily affected by the virus due to their ease of accessibility from WUH. The easiest trains to grab from WUH are to SZX and PEK, and that is why Guangdong province has the second highest infection count after Hubei, where it all started. But if I were you and have flights after Feb 10th-ish, I would stay put to watch this (d)evolve, as CAN still remains mostly safe, because SZX took the heaviest hit in the province. I decided to leave early because honestly staying at a house and doing nothing is just not fun.

Does that include flights booked with points I wonder? I have a return CAN-HKG with Cathay booked with points.

"domestic" in China does not include HKG, MFM, TPE, KHH, TSA, etc. They are technically special flights but in all practical purposes international flights. So unless CX or BA(I assume you used avios) put out special change/refund policies I would not get my hopes up. Also the government mandate only included domestic carriers, but all of them, except 9C of course, so MU CA CZ HU 3U all the way down to GX and A6.

According to the SCMP CX and many other airlines (including AA, DL and UA) have issued waivers for flights to the mainland. Btw most major hotel chains allow free cnxl in all of mainland China till Feb 8 (so far..) as well.

We are flying in April, if AY expands the waiver, I'll probably try to go to Japan instead. Skipping China completely

I was thinking the same, already flying end of Feb though. Wonder if they allow to change the destination completely, that would be really generous

Same. Flying in April but hoping for a quick cancellation / refund so I can make other plans at this point.
