could have been handy. However I’m now doing a kind of mini oneworld review (QF, CX, LA, AY, IB so far; may yet add a BA...)

They are leaving in October 2020, unless there has been some subsequent announcement shortening it? My travel is April, so will be a mini LATAM farewell (ex LATAM plat &#128557

Oh, nice, I thought they were leaving earlier. I used to be LATAM Black, now I still have LATAM Plat (soft landing).

Are there any Hotel recommendations for CAN?

Preferably Hilton or Marriot brands with good points/value ratio.

I reserved Hilton Garden Inn Foshan for 10k/night. My gut tells me, that I should change this to something nicer / more touristy.

I travel to Guangzhou each year for business, i have never care about points just to stay where is easy to conect to Canton Fair and Poly World trade center or take the train to Shenzhen, i can recomend the Royal Mediterranean Hotel for that, is in what i consider the main area of Guangzhou.

Looking at your previous posted route map, the question is: accommodation where?

So far I booked a night in BLQ before the first flight, using one of the various hotel nearby the airport with shuttle - and reasonable price - plus the Hilton at HEL for the layovers before the final legs back to BLQ.
HKG accommodation is still to book, but if I'll go with plan "A" and do the side trip to DPS, in the end I'll have just 1 or max 2 non consecutive nights there. However I already booked - on flexible rate - the hotel in Bali...

Regarding flights, I still have to choose the positioning flight to BLQ and book the side trip with CX, but for this last one I'll wait a bit longer.

Question After HK suggestions in April?

I wonder if any here would have some suggestions on where to go in April? I booked 4 tickets for the family and I to take advantage of this trip and have a family vacation also. We are spending three nights in Bologna as we have never been and then a night in Helsinki before flying to HK. The original idea was to then fly to Phuket for about 8 nights and I made some great reservations with Marriott thinking it might be easy to connect with Cathay and upgrade with Avios, boy was I wrong. The connecting flights are crazy money so I then started having a look around and say that Danang, Hoi An: Vietnam was suggested as a direct flight from HK for a beach get away. Again this will be a low cost carrier flight and I have made some reservations there for a nice hotel but wondered if the group had any ideas? We are going to do three nights in HK on either the arrival or return journey so were pretty flexible but April seems to be slammed an we get in April 9th and fly back to Helsinki on April 21st.

Many thanks also for the tip to a previous post on the Hilton Helsinki for an overnight as on the way back that helps quite a bit.

Happy flying everyone...

Stephen

Hoi An is one of my favorite places. Cool old city(UNESCO) and the beach was quite nice.
