There is an ongoing sale right now for next year if anyone want to plan early. For JAN03-FEB13 purchase by 09OCT19 code FRIENDSHIP. 20% off flights to/from LAX/SNA great for TCON flights for RT under 200USD.

Departure Airport: DTW, ORD if needed
Miles Needed: 25k to 30k
Required or Budget: Have $650 credit, plus $200 credit card airline credit, plus perhaps $500 more as needed
Available Travel Dates: Most any weekend, I could do an overnight during the week if it started with the normal 3:20pm DTW-SEA flight.
Required Metal or Codeshares okay: Just AS

Hello all, looking for some help/ideas. 75k Gold this year, but my organic travel is only going to come in around 45k, perhaps slightly more. Being located in Detroit, I was unable to take AS for a number of business trips. I have a trip scheduled to the West coast in December I could tack on an ANC or HI side trip. It seems I likely need 6 transcon RTs or 3+ FC transcons. The 6 trips seems challenging. Appreciate any advice.

I'm open to Partner strategies, but 40k partner miles seems out of the realm of possiblity, as all miles so far are on AS.

Hi all,

Trying to figure out a good situation before I blow up my previous plans. I currently have a o/w SFO-SIN to position for the Fiji mistake fare (SIN-NAD-LAX-NAD-SIN) earlier, but I really am dreading sitting in Y for 17.5 hours, and holistically spending 40+ hours in the air/airports in a ~56 hour period (set it up as a mileage run.. too optimistic) Trying to get the last 10K EQM for 75K without breaking the bank (I can "get out" of this current itinerary for a loss of $120 which I'm OK with).

Departure Airport: SFO/SJC/OAK/SEA
Miles Needed: 10K EQM on Partner or AS
Required or Budget: Preferably under $1K for a "real" trip (i.e. somewhere interesting for multiple days), under $~500 for a mileage run
Available Travel Dates: Oct-Dec 20
Required Metal or Codeshares okay: Any

I just booked SFO to DALLAS for a one day turn around. First class for $317 round trip. Two of those you'll be almost there.

Booked a turn around from SFO to DAL for 12/7 for $317 in first. Three hour layover. Looks like about 7,500 EQM.

Long time reader, first time posting!

I'm a long time Delta Diamond, but being based in PDX I finally made the jump to AS this year thanks to a status match. I'm going to be close to re-qualifying this year, but need a little bit of help. I have an upcoming work trip to FRA and am looking to score a cheaper business class ticket to get 20k+ EQM as a MVP75K. Normally I'd find a cheaper DE ticket, but not having much success finding something. Appreciate the help!

Departure Airport: PDX, SEA, NYC, LAX, SFO, YVR (anywhere with an easy positioning flight from PDX)
Destination: Europe
Miles Needed: 20k EQM on Partner or AS
Budget: ~$2000 - $2500
Travel Dates:
- Outbound - 11/16 or 11/17
- Return - 11/22 or 11/23 (bonus points if return is just to JFK)
Required Metal or Codeshares: Any

Thanks! Good deal but I decided to head down to Australia for a week on Qantas instead. $700 RT for about 16K EQM and 35ish RDM. Obviously not as fun in Y but it's somewhere I want to go, so makes it more worthwhile.

Not sure I understand. Are you basically looking for a cheap business class deal to Frankfurt for week of 18th for work that will earn you 20k EQM?

AussieInSeattle - Yes, or really anywhere in Europe that I could reach with a reasonable repositioning flight. I'd prefer DE over FI, but really just trying to hit status by EOY.

These are the IATA codes for each airline.

https://www.iata.org/publications/pa...de-search.aspx

Each airline has a 2 letter IATA code that here on Flyertalk is used as short hand.

QF for Qantas
DL for Delta
WN for Southwest
DE for Condor
FI for Iceland Air

etc etc etc.

If you spend enough time here it becomes second nature.

I'd look at BA instead of DE and FI for a true lie flat in business class (albeit with mixed reviews). Will net you 150% EQM of miles travelled on BA which will book into I and J class on tickets below. Unfortunately West Coast to Eastern Europe and then only back to East Coast will get you around 17000 EQM so you may need to return to the West Coast instead of your "bonus" itinerary of returning to JFK. Or you can pick up the extra 3k with another mileage run within the US for about $200-300 I think. Have included both options below.

Here's what I found:

22743 EQM:
PDX-SFO-LHR-IST-LHR-SJC-PDX
https://flights.app.goo.gl/8hLxX
11773 EQM on outbound to IST
10970 EQM on return from IST (maybe a little more as SJC-PDX shows as business class?)
$2828 through ba.com - using AARP and Chase Credit Card 10% off gets this down to $2365 - note that you have to pay to select seats on BA if you dont have status with them which will add ~$300 or so for these flights - or just gamble that they'll have something decent at 24hr check-in time and you're not stuck in the middle 2 seats - i usually just check the seat map regularly.

17072 EQM:
SEA-LHR-IST-LHR-JFK
https://flights.app.goo.gl/Dq1ZT
9548 EQM on outbound to IST
7524 EQM on return from IST
$2983 through ba.com - AARP/Chase gets it down to $2504 - same notes as above on having to pay to select seats prior to 24hr departure window
To get the extra 3000 miles you could also upgrade at the airport to 1st class for one of the long haul legs - usually its $600-$800 from West Coast in my experience - this will upgrade you into A, getting you 3400-4800 more miles depending if it is the outbound or return to JFK. Or do another mileage run within the US as mentioned above to get the extra 3k EQM.

AARP ($200 off) and Chase (10% off) tricks are well documented (google or maybe there is a FT link?) if you need help on those.

HU is having a solid fare deal in october. Business class to Chengdu if you position yourself to Chicago. Coming right in at around $1000 and you'll get well over 10k EQM and a cool 47k AS miles to boot.
