Departure Airport: SAN, SNA, possibly LAX
Miles Needed: 2,222 PQM
Required Spend or Budget: as low as possible
Available Travel Dates: Dec 27-30
Required Metal or Codeshares okay: Codeshares okay

My wife is 2,222 miles short of Silver on Copa. Since we live in PTY and travel to LAX every few months, status would be nice for next year. We will be in San Diego over the holidays so I'm hoping she can sneak in a MR to qualify. A same day return would be vest, but at around $300 I would go with her for an overnight.

Because of the 13K PQM, you have to make a single trip to Asia. You can do it over a weekend, but you will have to leave Boston on Friday morning. Here is a possibility to GUM. There are more PQMs that you need. Good luck.

Am I reading the rules right? 50% or 75% PQM on the lower fare classes, and no bonus for First? That really hurts! I'm having a rough time coming up with anything reasonable that late in the year. The only option I found so far is:

UA:$607 SAN-OGG L/S-fare 2595-2986PQM (at 50%)
Thu 29 Dec
UA5190 SAN-LAX 0615-0722 E175
UA417 LAX-OGG 0840-1241 B752
UA706 OGG-LAX 1400-2131 B752
UA5840 LAX-SAN 2330-2426 E175

This is absolutely horrific. Way too much effort for Silver. Maybe someone else can come up with better idea?

Good luck!

Some decent runs to LAX/SFO area which would help you earn extra miles, but not quite close to 20k.

I need 13k Miles to get United 1K

Hey fellow Road Warriors. I'm 13k miles short to reach 1K status. I'm united platinum right now and home airport is EWR. There are no good tools to pick a mileage goal and find best priced flights (when destination really doesn't matter). What would You do here? Fly to Istanbul coach or sprig for some business class seats and elite multipliers? Suggestions welcome.

Yeah, the 50% thing is confusing because we flew together in June on what I thought were the same fare classes but she only got 50% while I got 100%... to add insult to that we flew First class...

With Silver on Copa I usually get upgraded when I fly PTY-LAX and she'll make that trip 3-4 times next year. The paid upgrade is about $225 each way so making a MR is worth it. I'll have Gold and she'll have Silver.

If you want to do a single trip, any chance this would work?

UA:$318 MKE-SFO 4692PQM (w/ 500mi min)
Wed 7 Dec
UA5545 MKE-ORD 0719-0815 E145
UA769 ORD-SFO 0905-1142 B772
UA698 SFO-ORD 1340-1954 A320
UA4176 ORD-MKE 0850-0936 E145

Note: You must have status on UA or you will get actual miles, which will fall short of your requirement.

Good luck!

Houston / United for Gold

Departure Airport: IAH (houston bush)

Miles Needed: Aprox 15k with United for Gold (sorry, wrote silver on the last one). I am okay with doing this in two domestic trips. ideally looking for all domestic travel like IAH to LAX to EWR to IAH or something if ever possible

Required Spend or Budget: As cheap as possible - maybe up to $400 per trip
Available Travel Dates: looking for a Monday or Tuesday in Dec to make a single day domestic trip probably in the week of the 5th, 12th or 19th

Thank you!
