Whose on the flight this morning?

Doesnt the EU laws have stricter cancelling ticket laws than the DOT?

Depends your citizenship. US travelers do not need a visa for Ecuador.

I think the poster meant, visa to the US when changing planes in the US.

FWIW, the last time I transited in the US, I had to go through US immigration. I'm from a Visa Waiver country, and before I boarded the plane, I was asked if I'd applied for my ESTA. They'd have probably made me apply for an ESTA on the spot, or denied me boarding, even though my final destination wasn't the USA. I did end up in the USA for one night because I missed the connecting flight and spent a night in Detroit.

I’m unfamiliar with UK regulators. If ticket does not get honored, do we have any recourse or an agency to complain to?

No. You just need to suck it up.

Yeah yeah yeah, suck it up. But seriously, there’s no agency you can file a grievance with like in the US?

Being as one segment is with AA, and it’s from Miami on my itineraries, I would file a DOT complaint.

There is no agency. If its cancelled, its cancelled. Move on, and wait for the next good fare.

Good to see the usual comments on fares like these coming out already - some preparing their super duper class actions

No class action, but I wouldn’t go down without a fight. I think a DOT complaint may work. Emphasis on the may part. One segment of your itinerary is operated by an American carrier, to/from an American city.

What DoT complaint? I think the DoT rules are quite clear on mistake fares every since that UA F from Denmark

No that was legitimate fraud by people exploiting a currency error. That had nothing to do with a fare wrongly published. The DOT is quite clear once a ticket is issued, the airline cannot go back and play games with your ticket.

The ticket is confirmed, and ticketed. If I go ahead and book hotels that are non-refundable, which is perfectly within my right, and I should expect compensation for at least the hotel rooms.

If you need a visa to visit the United States, you will also need a visa for a mere transfer in the United States.

This is unlike most European airports where you don't need a visa for a transfer despite needing one for visit.

It funny looking at these F seatmaps LHR-MIA-LHR with 7-8 seats occupied.

Yes, you can take them to a small claims court for breach of contract.

Whether you would find a sympathetic judge I won't speculate on.
