I don't typically "need" mileage runs, but I still enjoy them as I am in the group of folks who simply enjoy the art of flying and the travel experience. And of course it doesn't hurt me in maintaining Diamond status. I am on a MR similar to this itinerary on April 26-28, 2013 going MIA-JFK-NRT-SIN-NRT-JFK-MIA. I went on Ita matrix and used milti segment routing and then went to united and I had trouble booking so I called united and gave them the routing and fare basis and they were able to create my ticket from dfw to lax to hnl to gum to Tokyo to Singapore for $ 1032 and totalizer of 25500
